Here is some lore on the server's world itself.
The setting takes place upon the current iteration of Faerun in the context of current 5e. This time line exists outside the events of the modules and is completely modular. Meaning it is to include most if not all the Classes, Races, Items, Feats, Monsters, and Locations. However, excludes any of the events that happen within the modules most of the material originates from. Though this is the case, many locations and NPC's are susceptible to change as the community grows and events are planned to fit within the continuity of the servers storyline.
The town of Ashton is a settlement located 35 miles south of Baldur's Gate on the other side of the river Chionthar. It sits just along the outskirts of Cloak Wood and have access to both the river itself for fresh drinking water and the Sword Coast for those who wish to spend time on the beach. Ashton originally started as a mercenary town. A place where people could gather to fight for those willing to pay. Ashton was successful for several years until a triad of powerful Dragon's swooped in and devastated the town do to its close proximity of Baldur's Gate. With many of the mercenaries who lived in Ashton dying in the battle to fend them off. After the chaos settled down. One of the mercenaries was declared a hero in the eyes of the city and granted a high ranking title among the kings military. With this, they returned to Ashton to rebuild. No longer wanting the town to be a simple mercenary town. Ashton gradually evolved into one of the first adventuring guilds in all of Faerun. Backed by the city of Baldur's Gate and the Council of Four. The Twilight Vanguard were born, its reputation drawing in adventurers from all walks of life to gather in pursuit of fame, glory, or simply the desire to aid those in need.
The Twilight Vanguard
The Twilight Vanguard. A renowned adventuring guild settled south of Baldur's Gate. A prominent maker of adventurers and a place many often start their career here. Lead by an studious Guild Master, The Twilight Vanguard has always stood head strong in the face of adversity in terms of those they choose to accept. In recent years, the last Guild Master Mira Amythist was assassinated by a Vampire who is currently still unknown with reasons for the assault are still elusive. Thus Lily, a shy and timid human wizard is thrusted into the position to her relative dismay. Appointed by vote by the other members of the guild at the time. The building itself is a proud standing three story building that is at the center of Ashton. Its banner blowing gallantly in the coastal breeze. The first floor of the guild is the main hall. Here you can find the lounge. A huge area where you can find several places to sit, eat, drink, and socialize with other guild members. Also located here is the open bar and kitchen where adventures can partake in ale and good food. The second floor resides the living quarters for those who sign up to join the Vanguard. Those who signed the initial contract to become a member gets access to an extra dimensional space all to themselves that auto adjusts to their desires. Meaning that once given the key to their room. It will magically become their preferred environment. Allowing the Vanguard to house a plethora of races from all walks of life so long as they abide by the rules and conditions dictated in the contract. Only those who are appointed to the room have free access to them to prevent robbery or other nefarious deeds other adventures might attempt. The third floor is a room that houses the guilds teleportation circle. Allowing members access to the larger cities and a means of traveling far distances instantly. Each member is given a badge that allows them to cast teleportation circle only to the guild from nearly anywhere on Faerun. Save for a few exceptions. The Guild Hall does have a basement but it is used for storage and only the Guild Master has access to it. Adjacent to the Guild proper is a training grounds where members can test their physical and magical abilities to hone their skills and even practice against one another. This is also the place where guild members can air out their grievances amongst one another in single combat though lethality will be nullified do to the grounds life preservation runes. If for whatever reason, someone is to die or drop to 0hp on the grounds. They are instead reduced to 1hp and paralyzed for a minute and shrouded red light. Indicating the end of the dual.
The Badge of Twilight
Upon joining the Twilight Vanguard. New members are given a Badge of Twilight. A medallion with the guilds emblem etched into it. When the badge is held in a guild members hand. They are able to cast the spell Teleportation for free. Using the badge to cast the spell will only open a portal back to the Twilight Vanguards teleportation circle on the third floor. Any and all objects that are not being worn or carried once the badge is used are left behind. Only one member of The Twilight Vanguard is needed to trigger the spell in order for others to automatically be taken back as well so long as they also hold a Badge of Twilight.
The Creed of Twilight
By signing this magical contract you agree to the following: 1) The guild takes 15% of your earnings on each quest. 2) To not fight other guildmembers without consent from both parties 3) To not doing any form of NSFW content 4) To have some common sense with rules. If you are to sign in your native language you are bound by both body and soul to this contract. The contracts are indestructible. Nothing less of a wish spell can remove one's name from a contract. However, the contract will attempt to stop the casting with a 10th level counter spell no matter where the person located at the time of the wish spell being used for this reason. More rules may be added to this and will be retroactively added to previously signed contracts.
Wondering Merchant
Do to the popularity of adventuring guilds. There is a band of merchants who, upon learning that the roads are now somewhat more safe do to the guilds clearing out most of the dangers along popular trade routes. They have created a branch of the merchants guild to create The Wondering Merchant's Corperation. Which allows some brave merchants to travel the lands with a large variety of items they ether pick up along the way or trade with other merchants, adventures, or settlements they pass through. These merchants will appear periodically to the many guilds around Faerun with the prospect of selling items both mundane and magical to the adventurers who live in them. The items can range in rarity and usefulness so there is no worry of hurting their feelings if no one buys anything. If a wondering merchant is threatened or feels that they are in danger. They have a means of swiftly vanishing from danger back to their headquarters.
Guild Master Octavious Pearlis.
The newly appointed Master of the Twilight Vanguard. A retired Adventurer chosen by the high officials of Baldur's Gate to take over the reigns.
