Thank you everyone for the interest. We've chosen a DM! If you haven't heard from me, apologies but thank you for the interest.
Hello! Thank you for reading this thread. I am part of a group of 7 players who are looking for a DM to run a game for us! We have been playing together for almost 2 years, and are looking for a new DM to shake things up! We are all willing to pay for your time and effort running this game for us. We love to roleplay and explore stories, and of course experience some exciting and challenging combat! We tend to try not to metagame, and we aren't really power gamers. We mostly focus on having character-driven gameplay, and having fun!
Our group preferences listed below. Some items are negotiable between the group and DM. Please include in your reply: What campaign you would like to run? The levels the campaign would run? VTT you run games on? Anything else you would like to tell us about the game? Any conflicts with our preferences below?
Game System: D&D 5e Group preferred: Online Game Type: Long Term Campaign, Module or Homebrew both ok Game Time Preference: Thursdays at 8:30 PM EST/5:30 PM PST Game length: ~4 hours Payment: $20 from each player per session Game style: A good mix of combat and roleplay VTT: R20 or Foundry preferred, but open to others.
Hey y'all! I'm Jack, I DM full-time, and I'd love to see if we'd be a good fit!
I'd love to run you all through my Ogygian Offer campaign! I've run it over 10 times for different groups, and my favorite part of DMing is seeing how different players solve the same problems. I can drop the blurb below, it often starts at either level 1 or level 3! The module itself goes to level 6, but leads into 2 different potential modules, both of which go from 6-10, and I have plenty of options from 10-20! Regardless, here's the blurb for the Plot hook for Arc 1!
The island of Ogygia is not to be confused with the one of myth. The original was both a paradise and a prison, and the imitation would never be mistaken for a paradise. With its diverse wildlife population and treacherous bogs, The great artificer G'loon has decided that it's much cheaper to scrape the bottom of the adventurer barrel to solve her problems. You have all been summoned to the island at her behest, with a promise to build each of you something that you greatly desire if you manage to help her strike back at her old business partner who has gone missing deep within the verdant tree cover that coats the island from shore to shore. Will you overcome the general stupidity of your guide, Craig? Or will you succumb to the Ogygian Offer, like hundreds before you?
My priorities for VTT are simplicity, beauty, and us using as few screens as possible in game.
We use Discord/Avrae for VC/Dice Rolls/Text Stuff, Roll20 or DnD Beyond (Player Preference) for sheets, and Owlbear for maps (like Roll20 Premium but better and less laggy!)
I have loads of other details I'd like to share on my website, but DnD Beyond can be a little finicky about pasting links, but feel free to DM me your Discord and I'll gladly share it there!
I don't think we've got any major scheduling conflicts! I tend to aim for 3-hour sessions, but we often go 30 minutes long, and I had a game last week go for about 5 hours, so it kinda evens out! $20 is my lowest pricepoint, and PayPal tends to chuck a little in tax on top of that, but for a premade group I'd be fine with ignoring that and just eating those costs if $1.22 in taxes would be a dealbreaker for y'all. I should be able to make that session time work weekly, Wednesday or Tuesday the same time might be a bit easier, but I'd be glad to chat and hammer out logistics! DM me your Discord, I'm much more active there!
I've sent you a DM about the scheduling, but thought I might as well send the form here.
What campaign you would like to run? I've been creating a homebrewed game, inspired by the Neverafter season of Dimension 20, so Dark versions of Fairy tales, where everyone has lost that spark, that "Happily Ever After". You would be playing as some of said characters, on their journey to learn what went wrong and try to fix it.
The levels the campaign would run? My estimation is up to lvl 15, plus-minus 1. As it is a homebrewed game, can't guarantee how exactly it will go, but should be within that range. For starting level, 3.
VTT you run games on? Good old Roll20, though I am also occasionally using FoudnryVTT. Other then that, Discord for voice chat.
Anything else you would like to tell us about the game? Add me on discord if you want to discuss the game a bit more ! My discord is : @elemium Only quick note I'll say is this game would be very dark, horror and hence why 18+ only. Of course, boundaries will be discussed and set with players, to make sure everyone is okay with what will happen in the game. Other then that, I will note that I do session 0 for free, and session 1 as trials, where if you end up not liking it, you do not have to pay for it.
Any conflicts with our preferences below? As mentioned in the DMs, the time would be a bit of an issue, so hopefully we can discuss it. I am pretty open, it's just Thursdays are filled for me unfortunately. Other then that, everything works perfectly !
What campaign you would like to run? Any, but I recommend Shadows of the Stringbinder or Of Rock and Ragnar based on your post The levels the campaign would run? Usually I start between 1-3 and go up to 12-15 but I like evolving stories that don't have a set "limit" VTT you run games on? a mix of Discord / roll20 / dndbeyond Your time and rate are fine with me being that you have 7 players. I offer a FREE session 0 to make sure we're a good fit with any campaign I run!
I'd like to throw my hat in the ring. I don't typically run for more than 6 players at a time, but you are a package deal group and know how to play well together is my hunch. I'm in :)
What campaign you would like to run?
If you want a published campaign, I'd run Phandelver and Below, followed by Vecna. I am happy with that mix. I normally run homebrew custom campaigns, so I'm very open to discussing them.
The levels the campaign would run?
Start at first and run until the campaign ends (20th, or sooner if the story feels accomplished).
VTT you run games on?
I've converted from Fantasy Grounds to D&D Beyond Maps + Discord. That gives enough tactical feedback in combat and allows for roleplay, etc. to be it's own thing.
Anything else you would like to tell us about the game?
I've been doing Forever DM since 1983, have worked for years in the video game industry, and enjoy this!
Any conflicts with our preferences below?
Game System: D&D 5e
Are you open to D&D 2024 5e?
Group preferred: Online
No conflict
Game Type: Long Term Campaign, Module or Homebrew both ok
Perfection
Game Time Preference: Thursdays at 8:30 PM EST/5:30 PM PST
I'm EST, so this is perfect
Game length: ~4 hours
With the VTT and game call starting 15 minutes before and staying open 15 minutes after (the 4 hour run time)
Payment: $20 from each player per session
For pre-made, no problem. I normally charge $25 for a homebrew setting tailored to your characters, but with 7 of you, I'm very willing to bundle a discount that :)
Game style: A good mix of combat and roleplay
Totally doable. I also enjoy exploration themes, and try to mix it all for the tone of the group.
VTT: R20 or Foundry preferred, but open to others.
I would prefer D&D Beyond Maps + Discord - negotiable.
Thank you everyone for the interest. We've chosen a DM! If you haven't heard from me, apologies but thank you for the interest.

Hey guys!
I have quite a few deep lore homebrew campaigns that I'm ready to run and would be willing to run any of them at the time you've specified!
I love to world build together and work your (optional) backstories into the world to make a really unique and engaging experience.
Take a look at what I've got, like I said I would be happy to run any of them during your time slot!
