Game: D&D 5e (2014) Campaign: Tomb of Annihilation
Time: Sundays @10:00pm - 2:00am EST (Weekly)
Location: Discord (Voice) & Roll20 (VTT)
Age: 21+ Experience: Intermediate or higher
Players Requirements: A good mic, solid internet, the ability to speak clear English. You must also have a laptop or PC to play.
Welcome adventurers!
I'm aiming for a tight-knit team of 4 players with moderate to heavy experience. You'll be taking on a difficult adventure set in and around the jungles of Chult. This campaign will take players from level 1 through somewhere around 11-13.
The basic story background is something called the "death curse" has changed the world. The priceless miracle that is resurrection magic has been rendered useless, more and more seeming like a worldwide phenomenon. What's worse, anyone who's died in the past and been brought back now finds themselves weakened and frail, slowly wilting towards a looming, permanent demise.
On the entertainment side of things, I'll be doing lots of accents and voices for most, if not all, NPCs. There will be a variety of ambience tracks and music taken from anime, video games, fantasy YouTube channels, and movie scores. I also use a variety of API & macros to add some pizzazz, speed things along, as well as improve the overall quality of life.
About me: I've been GMing for the majority of four years, running three successful campaigns, one of which lasted almost two years. I focus on having a fun, well-rounded game with realism, immersion, and solid role-playing.
I'm looking for players with the spirit of adventure who take risks. Those who love to explore the unknown and solve puzzles. Most importantly, players who are willing to truly immerse themselves and role play with both the other players and NPCs.
If you're interested please fill out the information below.
Experience: Have played 5E for over 6 years and been DM'ing for about 5. Use Roll20/Discord/dndbeyond with Beyond20 for API. Favorite class is cleric, but I tend to lean generally spellcasters.
Campaigns you've played: I've hosted many oneshots, been a player in a campaign that lasted for about 3 years. Ran my own 2 homebrew campaigns that lasted 2 years each, and I'm currently running another homebrew campaign on Monday nights. Campaign started in September and we're still going strong.
Experience: 3ish years as a player, never played ToA before. Played a lot of different kinds of characters, some for one shots some long term. I like to think I've gotten good at it. Only other TTRPG I've tried was a 2-shot of Call of Cthulu, which was great. Also all the games I've ever played used discord for voice & used roll20 for gaining, pretty adept at making sheets there & even helping newer players navigate it. I've used HeroForge mostly for token creation & some other creative means sometimes too
Campaigns you've played: In order: 1) Most of SKT as a gnome druid. 2) Half of CoS as a half-orc barbarian. 3) A bunch of floors of the Mad Mage Dungeon as a meatgrinder where we had characters die a lot 4) A lot of one shots.

BonusMeme: Absolutely unsolicited opinion you could disregard: I think one cool way to do a "tight-knit" party for a high stakes campaign is have them be apart of some kind of mercenary-esque group. One idea I had like this a group called "M Company" that doubles as an orphanage & mercenary group that takes contract work. They recruit young people, train & raise them up, and then send them out in groups on missions on behalf of whatever benefactors.
Something like this could be cool for a few reasons: 1) PCs are essentially adopted family that were raised together 2) Unlike being a literal family by blood which could restrict a lot ot PC choice, being an adopted family lets the PCs still have total freedom in terms of race/build/and even backstory. They could be an orphan that was raised in the mercenary as long as they could remember or have their own separate lives up until they were adopted as an older teen. 3) If you want high stakes that includes the potential PC death, an adopted mercenary family makes rerolling a new character a lot easier cause half of the backstory work is done for you, you just make a new character that was part of the mercenary family.
