FIRST, a word from Mike, our DM: "As D&D represents a weekly commitment of time and is on a fixed schedule, so too, should your schedule. If you work a retail job or any 'job', pass us by; you'll never get past the vetting process. If you have a set 'Career' where you always know your schedule weeks and months in advance, please, feel free to reach out, we'd love to have you, for lunch, as you are crunchy and good with Ketchup!"
As the lot of you roll into town on the latest trade caravan from Suzail, you notice the increased presence of guards along the 20' high wall that all but rings this small city. As a border town and edge of the Dalelands frontier, they are getting pressured from Sembia to the south and from tribes of bugbears to the north, the tribes that Cormanthyr didn't put down decades ago. Now that decision is plaguing Highmoon almost nightly. The signs coming into town are all but begging for adventurer types to stand the wall for a week (or longer). The current Magistrate is offering nearly a king's ransom PER DAY for anyone who is willing to walk the wall; 1pp per day (!). But lately, the bugbears have gotten smarter with their raids. For one, they only seem to raid in the wee hours just before dawn and, to make matters worse, they've used some of their ill-gotten gain to hire a few less-than-scrupulous sorcerers, sell-spells, mages for hire, as it were, and one of them, an old geezer name Malcolm, who's seen more than his share of decades, to lead a charge or two. That isn't their only purchase, however. Saru, an artificer of considerable skill and with a mechanical arm equipped with some form of stone-throwing blunderbuss, has been making short work of wall walkers these last few nights. One solid hit from that weapon and to your maker you go. Frostiess is especially keen to get her lovely elven fingers around his scrawny throat...
The signs point you toward a sign-in table at the first Inn to come into view as they let you in the city; a high-spirited place called 'The Leaping Lizard'...
The Defense of Highmoon is a Tier 2 Campaign, designed for veteran players. You must know the class you intend to play. This is not a campaign for new players; the rules will baffle you. Also, we are an LGBTQAI+ Neutral Table. We don't talk about Sex or Politics, so neither should you. We don't care who you sleep with, unless you're talking about your character.
Starting level is 4th. Good or Neutral Alignments only. Everyone starts with a Handy Haversack and a common magic item. Current party is a Shadar-Kai Gloomstalker, a Goliath Path of Wild Magics Barbie, and a Divine Soul Sorcerer of Bahamut. Also in the party is a Cleric of Bahamut and a Silver-Dragon-bloodline Sorcerer. Stats are generated via Point Buy.
If you're still reading this, congrats. look for Mike at-- gm_dm_alexander on Discord.
For those of you who missed the 35+ in the title, treat it like this: If you weren't at least 13 when the Towers came down, you're too young for my games. Thanks!
And, due to a scheduling conflict, we just lost our Barbarian. So, if you're of a certain age, understand that House Rules still count as rules, and would like to immortalize a character in a fun campaign, drop me a line!
So, there's a reason I say 35+: The younger players think D&D is all sunshine and rainbows, and when someone dies, they scream up and down that I took away their 'agency', never realizing that even other party members were saying "Dude, ya better think that through, first."
So, now we need another player. Message me if you think you can handle it. Most of you can't, but the interview will show one way or another...
