What to expect: - Super passionate and experienced GM with an interest in gothic literature, history and philosophy - FoundryVTT with well-coordinated modules, animated battlemaps, high quality visuals and banger music - Immersive storytelling with strong character story integration - Fiendish roleplay, theatre kid mode - Weekly sessions on Sunday 20:00 GMT+1 - Prologue session & 1 free, then €10 per session
Who I'm looking for: - Passionate roleplayers - Weekly commitment - Open and mature communicators
Themes: Gothic horror, drama, moral dilemmas, intrigue, psychology, philosophy, corruption, indomitable human will, hope against despair.
We are 3 sessions in at this point, still super early into the campaign. Looking to build back to full strength as one player had to leave due to scheduling issues.
This is a story of horror, drama, temptation, survival, and intrigue. It is about staring into the abyss and deciding whether you will resist its pull, or perhaps be swallowed by it. The game uses a dark fantasy setting as a backdrop to explore themes of morality, depravity, the human condition (or appreciation of the human condition in its absence), salvation, and personal horror. The themes I'll seek to address include retaining the character's sense of self, humanity, and sanity, as well as simply keeping from being crushed by the grim opposition of mortal and supernatural antagonists and, more poignantly, surviving the politics, treachery, and often violent ambitions of other desperate Barovians. This campaign is not about being a superhero. Our characters are story conduits, this is not a game that is designed to be "won." The experience of the story is meant to be interpreted as a journey into the understanding of our own condition. Accept that your choices have consequences, consider your character's thoughts and feelings, and philosophise over your actions during our sessions. Most importantly: your characters are not strangers to this tale. Their lives, pasts and secrets will be woven into the narrative fabric of Barovia. The mists do not draw souls at random: they choose. Each of you has threads that bind you to this land and its dark master, whether you know it yet or not.
