What: a casual play-by-post homebrew campaign using 5e 2014 rules Where: here on the D&DB forums, plus maybe Owlbear Rodeo for maps When: starting as soon as I have four players!
Welcome to Bramble's Rest, a small town bustling with adventurers and those who cater to them. Nestled in a verdant, secluded valley to the north, Bramble's Rest is surrounded by a dense and untamed expanse of wilderness known as the Fathomless Forest. For as long as anyone can remember, strange things have happened in and around the Fathomless. Crawling with dangerous creatures and ne'er-do-wells on the lam, dotted with landmarks that seem to come and go like passing daydreams, the lawless and unmappable nature of the Fathomless is an ideal proving ground for adventurers of all kinds.
So grab a drink at The Cozy Rose Inn (or perhaps the Old Dog & Dagger is more your style), swing over to Silverspun Curios to buy/sell/trade magic items, stop by the Adventurer's Guild to find a party who'll watch your back, and when you're ready, pick a job from the Quest Board - or just head into the Fathomless, and see what kind of adventure awaits.
This campaign will have a "Monster of the Week" style narrative. Each arc will be a new adventure that starts and ends in Bramble's Rest, so players are free to switch characters between arcs and jump in and out as their schedules permit. However, characters that frequent the Fathomless are more likely to find elements of their backstory woven into the greater tapestry of the world. I've been worldbuilding for a while, so there's plenty of established lore for those who want it, with lots of room to add more based on whatever your character brings to the table.
The campaign is open to players with any level of experience, but I would ask that everyone be able to respond to posts within 48 hours. If you don't think you can commit to checking in that often, this probably isn't the game for you.
Interested? Please respond in this thread with: your name or preferred handle, pronouns, time zone, and a brief description of the character you'd like to play.
About me: I'm jermbly aka Jeremy (he/him), located on the west coast of the US (Pacific time). I've been playing various TTRPGs for about 15 years, and DMing for nearly that long. Currently enjoying this season of Dimension 20 (Cloudward, Ho!) and The Kingdom Sleeps podcast.
