Game: D&D 5e (using the 2014 rules, with some possible 2024 integration) Group type: Online (Roll20 & Discord) Experience: New and Experienced players welcome. Location/Timezone: My time zone is Pacific Standard Time (PST). Schedule: Mondays. Weekly Sessions. Start time at 10 a.m. PST/PDT. Around 4 hours of Session length (sessions end around 2 p.m PST) Roles sought: Looking for 4 to 5 Players Game style: I try to include exploration and enough role play with the potential combat included in these adventures. I try run the game as close to RAW as it would make sense to. I like having the world be somewhat grounded with the help of rules for things to make sense. NPCs and things will have reasonable or appropriate responses to your words/actions. I am a strong believer in: if you want your character to be treated like a hero, you should act like one.
WELCOME TO WATERDEEP! A fantastic treasure trove is yours for the taking in this adventure for the world's greatest roleplaying game.
Famed explorer Volothamp Geddarm needs you to complete a simple quest. Thus begins a mad romp through the wards of Waterdeep as you uncover a villainous plot involving some of the city’s most influential figures.
A grand urban caper awaits you. Pit your skill and bravado against villains the likes of which you’ve never faced before, and let the dragon hunt begin!
About the Adventure This adventure is set in the Forgotten Realms, on the Sword Coast of Faerûn. The campaign will be focused in the largest cosmopolitan city on the Sword Coast, Waterdeep. This adventure is a treasure hunt of sorts, requiring you to navigate and explore Waterdeep, collaborate with various figures of the city, and avoid people that are trying to stop you. You decide who you work with and who you can trust in this grand game. This campaign will take 4 - 5 characters from level 1 to level 6, and I think it could take around 5 or 6 months to complete.
About the DM My name is AL. I have been playing 5e since 2017, all of which has been online. I generally run WotC or 3rd party published adventures. Adventures/Campaigns I have played: Lost Mine of Phandelver, Dragon of Icespire Peak, Dragons of Stormwreck Isle, Storm King's Thunder, Tomb of Annihilation, Tyranny of Dragons, Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden, The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, Call from the Deep, and Empire of the Ghouls. I run all my adventures in the Forgotten Realms setting (not a lore master of the setting, I still use the FR wiki when I need to). I am not an actor that has voices for *every* NPC you run into. But I am consistent in showing up, communicating when I can't, familiar with the 2014 rules, and enjoy DM'ing these adventures. I try to follow RAW if it makes the most sense. I try to have NPCs and things give reasonable / appropriate responses to your words / actions. I'm a strong believer in: if you want your character to be treated like a hero, you should act like one.
About the Game This is a payed ($7 USD via PayPal or Roll20 Subscription Credit), weekly game, meeting on Mondays at 10 a.m. PST/PDT. I try to have sessions last about 4 hours and usually take a break after about 2 hours. We will be playing on Roll20 and using Discord for voice communication during our sessions. Will be using the 2014 5e rules, with potentially some 2024 rules being integrated. I do have and use House Rules/ Reworks of abilities, you can open the google doc in the thread below to look at the list. Your character's attributes can be determined with the Point Buy system in the PHB. Character options will mostly be from official WotC published material (see *House Rules / Reworks* for which sourcebooks that are allowed).
What to Expect If you are interested, please post an application in the *Applications Here* thread below. Include something from Waterdeep in your character's backstory. No joke characters. I will message applicants about setting up a day for a short, 30-ish minute one-on-one Session 0, so we can get to know each other a bit and to ask each other questions about the game. After, we can schedule a day to play a one-shot adventure so we can see how we play mesh and play together. If you end up in the group, I will set another Session 0 date so the group can get to know each other, go over character creation, discuss everyone's expectations, and ask/answer any other questions or concerns we have for the group. The one-on-one Session 0, the one-shot adventure, the Session 0 with the group, and the first two sessions of the campaign will not be charged. After, payment is expected before the start of the next session.
If you have any questions or concerns, you can post them here or privately message me here or send me a message on Roll20. If you are interested in joining, you can use the roll20 link below and apply there or reply to this thread.
