About the group - So we are 4 sessions into this campaign and due to personal reasons, one of our players has had to step down. The other three players in the group are all women and we are a group that enjoys roleplaying, storytelling and having fun. We are looking for a 4th that can fit well into this group, one of the requirements is that you have a good quality mic and to be able to use video for game sessions. Please read the entire post and if you are interested, then reply or PM me and let me what you enjoy most about DnD and what drew you to this forum post.
Game System - 5e 2024
Campaign - The Crooked Moon. A Folk Horror Campaign module from Legends of Avantris. Set in the land of Druskenvald, an afterlife shrouded in an Eldritch Mist.
Campaign Platform - The game will be played on DNDbeyond for maps and rolls as well as character sheets
Communication Platform - Discord for voice and video
Spots Available - We are looking for 1 player to complete our group to make it 4 players in total
Player Restrictions - Mature, 20+
Player Experience - Be comfortable and knowledgeable with using dndbeyond for character sheets. And you don't need to be a veteran dnd player, but you do need to know how to play your own character and have a decent grasp of the rules
GM Experience - I have been DM’ing for 2 years, this will be my third time dm’ing a full length campaign and I have a good grasp of the rules but I do need to look things up occasionally
Game Style - This is a Folk Horror campaign so I would like for us all to stay true to that theme. I will do my best to promote a folk horror atmosphere as we play. There will at times be descriptions of gruesome deaths as well as potentially triggering things like hangings and beheadings. There will be a healthy amount of combat in this campaign but I want the sessions to be roleplay forward
Starting Level - level 3
Teaser - “Somewhere, lost in the shrouded realms of death, lies a land of endless night where long-forgotten horrors are revealed to those who travel through the mist.
There, in a crooked house lives a Crooked Man with a crooked grin. He raises crooked arms to a Crooked Tree at the edge of midnight and hears the whispers of the Old Ones.
They speak of a beast that stalks the darkest woods and darkest hearts, a crown of horns upon its head. If you lose your way and feel a warm breath that chills you to the bone, run
Follow the songs of harvest time, and before long, you’ll find revelry in the dancing shadows of blazing wicker. No matter your story, these lonesome, misty rails will deliver you to where the hallowed cannot save you.
Now is the time to brave the dark wood, beware the witching hour, and weave your own dreadful folktale underneath the Crooked Moon.”
hello hello, i'd like to.. saying apply feels a bit odd or professional hehe, but i'd like to see if you think i'd be a good fit for your group!
one of the things i enjoy most about D&D is how creative people get the chance to be. whether in the type of story they craft or the characters they create & play, i'm always so interested in learning more about the world and the people in it. beyond that too! worldbuilding in pretty much any way is probably one of my favorite parts of any adventure, but especially with being able to see how the actions i/my fellow party members take can actually impact the story ^^
what drew me to this post, aside from a general desire to be in a group again, is the folklore horror setting and the sort of emphasis on storytelling that it seems y'all lean into. i enjoy combat, but there's definitely more interest for the story and roleplaying aspect for me. and! folklore is one of my favorite genres/atmospheres, and as for the horror aspect, it's fascinating to me too! i feel like folklore horror, then, would be such a cool d&d campaign to have a chance to play through, and overall, a damn good story to be told
if it helps any for further discussions, my discord is plutonicpeach! (also i use they/them pronouns :D)
thank you for your response :D I'll be in touch over the next few days to setup a voice chat.
Note: Anyone else that wants to apply feel free to, this is not a "first come first serve" situation. My goal is to find someone that will be a good fit for our group.
