My name is Jor (she/her), I'm 32, and I'm a Canadian permanently living in Finland. I have been a 5e (2014) player & DM for about 4.5 years now. I have played at many tables ranging from one-shots to 3+ year weekly campaigns, and I've DMed one shots, mini-adventures, and a 3-year campaign, and am now 1 year into another multi-year campaign. In addition to that game I'm DMing, I'm an active player in two ongoing games both 3 years in, one online and one with a local group.
As of this week, all of my current games are on pause for the holidays, and while I do need the break, I already feel myself going into withdrawal as a D&D addict, haha. I thought that a good way to fill the void without having to use too much brain power would be to run a very simple workshop for brand new players who need help getting started. My idea is that we would have two sessions on back-to-back days, splitting them as follows:
Session 1: Character creation & general rule workshop. First, I'll yap for a little bit to explain to you what a real session looks like or can look like - the flow of play, different play styles and what to expect, etc. Once you have the general picture, we can move to character creation, where we'll make your first level 1 characters together as a group, going step-by-step.
Session 2: We'll play a one-shot. It will be a simple dungeon crawl where your group is a pre-established adventuring party who have been contracted to retrieve an item from a dangerous location. Your job will be to make your way through the "dungeon", find clues, and ultimately track down the item, defeating any enemies standing in your path. This style of game will allow you to focus on learning the basic mechanics of two of the three pillars of gameplay (exploration & combat) before having to worry about the additional layer of social/roleplay/deep lore that a lot of games offer and can be overwhelming to a new player.
We will use Discord for voice (and I will likely use webcam but won't require it from anybody who doesn't want to), and a free Chrome/Firefox extension for our VTT (virtual table-top - the tool we'll use for our battle maps). I also use a music bot for ambiance. And to be clear, this is completely free - no cost associated for you whatsoever.
Would there be any interest in an educational game like this?
If you are interested, I'll ask you fill out this brief questionnaire. As I said, I would like to run the sessions on back-to-back days so that everything is fresh in our minds. The game day & time will depend on when any interested players are available, so I'm sorry in advance if we don't end up running this at a time when it's available to you.

Hey, thank you for the interest, but between your answer here & looking at your other posts, it seems you have quite a bit of experience with the game already so you aren't really the target audience for this "workshop". As stated, I am looking to help first-time players learn the game together. Good luck finding a game that suits you, though!
Experience with/knowledge of D&D: Never played with other people before, just single player games in e5 and pathfinder systems and have seen people play DND.
