Hello everybody! My name's Madeleine. As you can see from the title, I'm a new DM whose experience with D&D mostly comes from listening to podcasts like TAZ and NADDPOD and watching Critical Role. I've struggled for a while to find a group to play with, but I have been building a world over the last year and a half and think that the best way to get into D&D might be to just buck up and start my own campaign! All experience levels welcome, particularly newbies who are happy to help each other figure this stuff out as we go along. The campaign will be run via Discord on Sunday evenings AEST. The concept for the campaign is high-fantasy adventure with a bit of political intrigue thrown in, pretty standard really. 5e mechanics apply. If you're interested, please fill out the form below!
Player name, age, preferred pronouns:
Player experience:
Character name, race & class:
Brief backstory:
P.S. Of course it's absolutely up to you what you'd like to play, but I would really love to work with players in a kind of session-0 type thing to build backstory to help you fit into the world and story neatly. Hopefully that's cool with you! Also, it might take a little bit of time once we've got the party together and ready to go to actually get to session 1, just because I'll have to do some tweaking to see how everything's going to pan out - after all this is a homebrew!
EDIT: Thanks everyone for your submissions, but I've reached max capacity! Thread's now closed.
Sounds interesting, I would be interested in joining.
My name is Scott, 37
Been playing for over 20+ years, but I am far from an expert.
Hmmm, character I would LIKE to play is Szetsu, Yuan-ti pureblood, Paladin. But that will depend on you, if course. I will have to run him on paper because I don't want to spend money on D&D Beyond for books I already own. If he doesn't jive with you, I can easily create another.
Szetsu ran away from his Yuan-ti temple in his youth after realizing their ways did not coincide with his beliefs. Now, living in a small hut outside a remote village, he does his best to help those around him, despite being treated with fear and hostility due to his appearance.
I'd be interested if my Sundays weren't perpetually completely filled. If you're open to considering a Saturday session though (I'm in the same timezone), I'd be 100% keen.
I go by Fiddlersgreen but happy to use my real name in game-chat. Age 34. Been playing D&D since 2nd edition (I started young) but relatively new to 5e, and I only very recently caught up with the general lore since 3.5 edition (4th ed didn't do it for me and I switched to Pathfinder for several years).
Would love to play a tabaxi character. I favour the sorcerer and bard classes, but can adapt as required. He'd be a world-traveler seeking tales and adventure, driven by a cat-like curiousity and sense of wonder. Further specifics can be fleshed out based on your campaign setting.
Player name, age, preferred pronouns: Mork, im fine with using my real name in chat though. 21 he/him
Player experience: about 6 years now, mostly DMing.
Character name, race & class: Morte, Variant Human Wizard. (ive got a few other character ideas im fine with playing as well)
Brief backstory: Morte was raised in a religious institution that worships a death god and practices necromancy. the faith holds that necromancy is neutral and users generally are neutral or good. Morte and most other followers hate evil necromancers and oppose them wherever they can for using the power for selfish reasons.
PS: I understand a necromancer can be difficult to work into a group so if it just doesn't gel let me know I have other character ideas.
Hi Madeleine, I'd love to join! I'm a big fan of TAZ and Critical Role as well!
Player name, age, preferred pronouns: Marianne, 25, she/her
Player experience: I've been DMing for a little less than two years about once a month, have only played as a character a handful of time.
Character name, race & class: Drow druid named Ryldraen or a Half elf rogue named Torrance, depending on what the group needs.
Brief backstory: Ryldraen: My whole clan was wiped out by a bat plague save for the few who interacted with bats daily. Instead of heeding my advice that the bats offered some form of immunity by our exposure to them, the remaining clan members wiped out the creatures, saying it was the gods' will. I left and have devoted the last sixty years to researching immunity to diseases and other forms of medicine.
Torrance: Her birth mother made a deal with a witch- her firstborn in exchange for a goose that lays golden eggs, not caring what the witch did with the child after the exchange. The witch assumed the elf child would possess some form of magic, and planned to raise her up to be an apprentice alongside her wife. The child did not possess an ounce of magical ability, but the witches kept her and raised her as their daughter. Since she has turned 18, her mothers have sent her on a yearly trip to broaden her horizons.
Player name, age, preferred pronouns: Matt, 30, he/him
Player experience: About four years off and on, but regularly for the last year or so.
Character name, race & class: Open to play what fills out a solid roster. I have a preference towards martial damage or tanking but have plenty of ideas for characters in my head.
Player name, age, preferred pronouns: Krisha, 19, they/them
Player experience: I have only played with amature groups in the past couple years, but have recently been playing with a group that is more well versed this past year
Character name, race & class: Symphony, tiefling bard
Brief backstory: I got into the art of playing music when travelling around with my father at a young age. He performed in taverns, going from town to town, and with my mother off doing her whole, "I am a demon, give me your soul thing," I spent my time with him. As I came of age I struck out on my own, performing music just as my father did. Eventually I settled down in a small town, and took to performing music for the local church. I don't know really what god they were worshiping, but it was quite the opposite of my own. I followed Milil, god of poetry and song, befitting of my nature, I still do. Anyway, as it always seems to happen, I was in the wrong place at the wrong time and walked in to the church during a ritual...and it went sideways; needless to say, that church and half the town is no longer standing. I have been running since then, mostly because everytime I stop, the shadows seem to catch up, and they are just a little too long...a little too dark....and definitely vengeful.
Player name, age, preferred pronouns: Jenna, 17, she/her
Player experience: bews to DnD but experienced in RPs
Character name, race & class:Raena Moonstalker, Dark Elf, Ranger
Brief backstory: She was orphaned at an early age, early enough to not remember her birth family. She was found in the woods by an Eladrin elf servant who took her in and raised her. Eventually, the servant was sent away and the lady of the hold decided to take Raena on as her ward, mainly for her own entertainment. There, Raena grew spiteful towards the others as she was clearly unwelcomed by the others, though it was kept under wraps. She began to regularly sneak away to the dense forest that protected the city, frequently hiding there after causing some sort of mischief in the city and didn't want to be found out. In her time there, she became more and more bonded with the animals and nature surrounding her, so much so that when she had finally ticked off the lady of the city enough by stealing her prized necklace, Raena disappeared into the forest without a trace. The necklace was mearly a final "f*** off" to the city, but thus began the traveling, still thieving life of Raena Moonstalker.
Player name, age, preferred pronouns: Collin, 21, he/him
Player experience: year and half
Character name, race & class: Ektar murdolag, simic Artificer
Brief backstory: Ektar coming from his simic roots enhancing the living and to recreate and better natures creatures he took a fascination of integrating machine work and magic into the mix. Using alchemy and magic binding organic and inorganic components seamlessly creating homunculus and artfical life that no matter were it would go it could adapt to it's environment. As the simic counsol wa not interested in Ektar's work they warned him to put his focus into other research but Ektar refused and left before his simic brethren could say another word he ventures the world creating homunculus that can live on there own and fix the destruction that we have cuased.
Are we allowed to bring a homebrew character as well? I got the character's potential and limitations on a sheet so you can approve or disapprove. If not, I can always make a new one.
Ender, 19, he and pretty new to D&D
My Homebrew character is a young Black Dragon. Raised by villagers and learned culture, language and respect. Still has cruelty and sadism in his nature but still learned to love and respect to those deserving. His village got destroyed by corrupted aristocrats when he was out hunting. He returned to what used to be his home, decimated and his loved ones barely recognizable from the burns. He swore to hunt all those that attacked his village and make them and their families suffer.
Ps: Dragon is both race and class. And their not as powerful as the natural bosses in D&D.
Character name, race & class: Eddard, human variant, Paladin
Backstory: Born in a small village, Eddard spent his childhood idolizing the armies and soldiers that would pass through on their way towards the kingdom's capital. Filled with stories of adventure, comradery, and the marvels of the wider world, he enlisted with the closest company as soon as he became of age. Climbing to the rank of Sgt, Eddard experienced his first true battle after 5 years with his company. While his side would ultimately win the battle, most of his company and friends was killed while he only sustained minor cuts and bruises. After burying the dead, he abandoned the company, headed towards home. At home he sought counsel with the local priest to find meaning in his life as a solider. At the priest's urging, he left home once more to join to local paladin chapter, which was in dire need of skilled men at arms to fill it's rank. Eddard's life found new meaning in becoming the protector of the meek.
Im really interested in trying out my first campaign
My names Delico but you can use Deli if you want Im 21
Im freshly new but i understand the basics
Character: Keihara Levilan Histora
Race: Shifter
Class: Fighter
Brief backstory : I can work with anyway you wanna have her backstory fit your champaign ive just made her a noble that follows the idea that all under her name and family are now different then her especially since she her self is a outsider even to her own adopted family. She wished too help anyone she could from the weak and innocent to the outcasted races. But being the outsider of her adopted family puts a tight strain on her families name and reputation as they do not approve of her actions.
Hey Madeline! I'd be super interested to play in your campaign!
Player name, age, preferred pronouns: Mariah, 24, she/her
Player experience: about 9-10 months, but I also DM a home game that's been going on for about 5-6 months now!
Character name, race & class: Zhermir, Protector Aasimar, Sorcerer
Brief backstory: Zhermir has since she was born shown the obvious traits of someone with Celestial lineage. Since she was born, her feathered wings have been out and she has been a target. As she grew up, her wings became draconic and bronze scales started to snake around her body, in addition to a host of new magical powers. She doesn't understand them and wants to know why her.
Heyo! Daniel, 20, he/him also in Australia! Love me some NADDPOD as well
Not much experience at all, my older brother has a had me play a few times but I don't have too many people around that play. I have been making characters and dabbling in world building for around 2 years though
My character is Pockets, a Tabaxi warlock, praising The Celestial
Originally named 'Soaring Eye', from the Tribe of Upper Forest. Pockets trained as a hunter under his father, as all the tabaxi children did in his tribe, only he took to a whimsical life at a very young age, often sneaking off from training to sit on treetops and play songs. He set out from his tribe and had many adventures, keeping stories of all the quests he went on to one day tell to his children. All of a sudden that life came to an end when his arm was taken off by a rogue knight in battle, and he retired to working in a bar. Eventually he built the funds the purchase his own tavern, The One-Armed Archer, which became known as a leader in experimental cocktails. After several prosperous years shifting from town to city, the bar across the lane grew competitive, and sought to destroy the local hot spot. Pockets hopes to one day re-open and create the best drinks in the land.
Experience a little over a year but I have gotten decent at it and I have been a DM before.
Character Info. Thamior warlock wood elf
brief Backstory. Thamior was abandoned by his tribe and as he was out hunting The Fiend appeared and thamior began to follow his ways. He received The Fiends blessing and continues to wander
