Already have all the frames, backdrops I got 1 new, not impressed.
What you should do, is have a collection of ALL the old backdrops and frames, and let a sub pick their monthly allowance from those to unlock.
I mean for those of us that are subbed and already preorder everything, this first month was a huge miss. For me it's not even a perk, more of an annoyance to think you're getting something and then don't.
I don’t have all of them yet but I was thinking in some way the same. The mechanism is incentivising new people to subscribe but it loose value the more you are a long time subscriber.
Don’t get me wrong the possibility to have older frames for me is appealing. But having this as the foundation of the perk is not great :) let’s see how this evolve!
This is cool. I have some of it already, but I appreciate the intent and the idea going forwards. Free stuff is free stuff, and you didn't have to give us anything - so a big thanks!

Been playing D&D since 1989, when I ran my first AD&D 1st Ed game, and pitted five 20th level characters against a single Troll. It's been downhill ever since...
I see 5 new backdrops on my list :) Looking forward to hearing more about this new Subscriber perks on this Thursdays Dev update and the next wave of rewards on Monday :)
It would be hard to overstate how little I care about eye candy stuff like these 'perks'. I wouldn't begrudge your doing them, except that it seems likely these are occupying developer cycles that could be spent implementing actual useful functionality. There's a ton of stuff that's been long requested. Some of it I personally care about, some I don't, but much of it is a lot more to the point, IMO, than these 'perks'.
In other words, for me these perks not only provide no additional incentive for me to remain a subscriber, they make me feel that providing features that I would actually value is a low priority for you.
EDIT: Gosh, that sounds so cranky. I really don't begrudge people who enjoy these perks having them. If, somehow, there is not a tradeoff between doing these and doing more core functionality, then fine. That seems unlikely to me, but I'm happy to have that notion corrected. Also, I think this hits a nerve because the way DnDB sets development priorities in general has always seemed quite opaque, and to have given insufficient attention to what users want, and to completely integrating features that you already have, sort of leaving a lot of holes and things that feel half done. For me, it generates the suspicion that your devs are just working on whatever they think is new and cool without much regard to users' perspective.
You must maintain an active subscription to use these perks.
I would like some clarifications on this:
If my subscription lapses, what happens to each perk type that are currently being used? And what happens when I renew my subscription? As I understand I will not be able to use them in the interim, but what exactly does that mean?
Would portraits frame and backgrounds revert to the default? If so, would they automatically switch back when one renews their subscription?
Or would they just not load? (I doubt that, but I have seen strange things here already)
Or would they stay as it is for existing characters, but they will not appear in the list of available options when I try to change the frame/backdrop of an existing character? If that's the case, would any other change (name, level, etc) alter the background/frame? And what if I duplicate the character?
I couldn't care less about dice to be honest, and I would only ever use the rolling option if I could switch the graphical effect off; but to ask for others: what happens to dice? Would the currently selected dice set switch back to the default? If so, what happens when the subscription is renewed? Would it switch back to the previously selected die?

the frames are all from previous pre orders so you probably already have it - ones from Tasha's (animated spirit shroud) 2 from Theros (animated stardust and animated Solar) and the other i think is from Eberron, (animated arcane mist)
I'd like to make sure that I have correctly understood.... It sounds like subscribers perks are a monthly series of unlockables? If a user has an active subscription, that user's account can access any perks that the account has unlocked during their subscription duration. But even if a user has unlocked certain perks, access to perks, overall, is dependent on a currently active sub. Basically, it flows like:
free account ? --> perks are inaccessible
subscription account ? ---> perks are accessible â—‹ perks are accessible ? ---> account can use any unlocked perks previously & currently accrued
Thank you ever so much!
No, that's not how it works. "You won't receive perks from previous months, where you weren't subscribed." You only get the specific monthly perks for the specific months during which you were subscribed, determined at the start of each month - is how I read it.
Not for nothin' but, um, that's what I said. Sorry if my wording was unclear.
Subscription duration (what months you subbed) = what perks your account has unlocked Subscription Status = access (or not) to your account's unlocked perks
Or at least, that's what I think DDB has communicated to us - but I think we're still kinda waiting for confirmation or further clarity on that Hope I was more clear about my meaning this time :)

To put it clearly:
Let's assume the June rewards are DiceJune, FrameJune and BackdropJune; the July rewards are FrameJuly1 and FrameJuly2, and the August rewards are DiceAugust1 and DiceAugust2.
Let's also assume you are subscribed in June, but your subscription ends on 25 June; and you only renew on 14 August; and that you have not separately bought any of the above things.
From 1 June to 25 June you have access to DiceJune, FrameJune and BackdropJune
From 26 June until 14 August you have access to none of these,
From 14 August (until your subscription lapses again) you have access to DiceJune, FrameJune, BackdropJune, DiceAugust1 and DiceAugust2. You do not get access to FrameJuly1 and FrameJuly2.
It's like how the Playstation Plus Free Games work.
Need to fix the spirit shroud one. From what i can tell its not lined up quite right. Not sure if im the only one with this problem. Other than that. Love getting rewarded for subscription. Cant wait.
ps: can we get this working on the app? None of these work for the thing most of us are using now.
2nd edit: Jus got home and found out that the misallignment is only happening on mobile atm. so not a huge concern.
Sure they are nice but how about a Dark mode for character sheets for everyone on the site?
They literally and I can’t stress this enough, don’t have to give us anything extra for free. Stop being so entitled.

Thank you! I use both character sheets and digital dice here on Beyond so these perks are a nice plus! Keep up the good work!

Only if they also add a light mode for the app for everyone to use. Dark mode destroys my eyes and gives me headaches.

This. A Ravenloft-themed sheet would be most welcome, and timely.

As a new subscriber (but not a new user of D&D Beyond), I'm loving this feature, seems like I've subscribed at the right time !
Thanks !
A DM only rolls the dice because of the noise they make...
As a sub since October 2018 - Thank you :)
I kinda hate myself for loving the backdrops so much, but I don't care... I love them.
Thank you!

These are two of my favourite things.
