I've got a preorder with my local gamestore for Theros, just waiting for them to send me a code. I'm wondering, will I be able to use that code for the preorder here on DnDBeyond as well (to get the bonus backgrounds and stuff)? Or will I have to wait until release, and put the code in at that time?

Nevermind, I watched the video and I hear that I can redeem in during the pre-order. Thanks!
So what's going on with the Character Sheet Framework effort we saw in past updates? I'm really looking forward to that as a stepping stone to some much needed customization options in DDB. It might not be customer-facing code, but I want to cheer on the devs! Are you just wrapping that update into the Class Feature Variants work now? This would be a great use of the new framework! Also hoping that it eventually leads to full class creation rather than just sub-classes. So many things that exist at people's tables, yet impossible in DDB, could be possible with a better Character Sheet foundation that removes so many of the rails.

They finished rolling that out to everyone about 10 days ago. Adam even has the announcement pinned at the top of his twitter feed (not that you should be tracking his twitter. I just find it amusing and cool that a backend fix that is hard to detect is getting a 'release' treatment).
It's the reason they've been able to release the dice alpha, why in this update he mentions actively working on the class feature variants, and, I presume, mentioning trying to get the combat tracker in beta.
Yeah, dude. I'm a developer in a much more boring type of software. Framework changes can be critically important for not just releasing new features but reducing bugs, making bug detection and resolution faster, resolving security problems, improving performance, onboarding new devs, etc. etc. (Maybe you already know this, but I'm sure there are folks reading this going, "Why should I care?") Plus, it's typically a thing that devs can get excited about, especially if they have been struggling with feature requests for long time, but nobody else cares. I just wanted to cheer the dev folks on a bit and even if it doesn't immediately result in the features I'd personally love to see right away, I still appreciate all the work that likely went into changing such a fundamental aspect of the software.
The feature variants offer alternative features for each class, balances the number of proficiency discrepancies between classes and overall ends up being a whole lot of little nerf/buffs that add up to a big deal. They put a lot of work into it and it has generated a lot of interest. New options means a more customizable character which is great for those of us who hate playing carbon copy or one dimensional characters.
What does "Work In Progress" (i.e. WIP) mean in this context? Can people tell me from previous updates? Is it just "we're still working on this thing" with no particular suggestion it'll be out any time soon, or is it "we expect this thing to be complete before the next dev update" (which seem to to typically be 1-3 weeks apart)?

Work in progress just means there is work being done on it that is currently in progress. No timelines or windows of release. Just what it says.
There must be a little more to it than that, Dave, because otherwise presumably everything which is "next up" on the tracker would be "WIP", and it's not. I guess what I'm asking is, based on the experience of people who read these more often than I, what does WIP translate to? I get that it's not a promise of a specific date etc. - otherwise it would be that. But it's clearly not just "a thing that is being worked on", because we know loads of things are being worked on that aren't listed as WIP.
Work in progress just means the work is happening. Next up means that it's the next thing in line to be worked on. It doesn't translate into anything specific, they've just marked these things as WIP in this update because they've previously been 'next up' or similar.

Can you confirm that the book will be released June 2, the hardcover is not being released until July 21st?
WotC confirmed via Twitter that Theros will be released on DDB on June 2 as originally scheduled, even though the physical release was pushed back:

So is there like new subclasses or something? I don't have a clue what's going on really.
Exactly what does it mean "class feature variants"?
It is referring to this Unearthed Arcana from last November which contains many variant options for the PHB classes.

Oh, I agree it's totally awesome. I'm cheering the fact that they are yelling it from the rooftops. So often the unseen work goes unnoticed.

I know Adam said something about changing settings on Chrome to get the dice to roll faster. What exactly was it?
