Randy exchanges a glance with Hank and shrugs. "Sounds okay to me." He gets the address for Whoopsy's shop before the artificer runs off. "I'll be by to get the night goggles in a few days, or do you need more time for them?"
The party seemingly in agreement, Kayleera gives directions to Evelyn's, and the monster hunters bid you all a good evening, with some tentative plans of stopping by Evelyn's this evening to share a meal and drinks, if you wished. Whoopsie gives Randy directions to their workshop, and seem enthusiastic about the project, though the directions aren't all that clear, the ranger gets the sense that they are near the guild, but not in the guild. Vaduta fills him in after Whoopsie gets distracted by one of his gizmos needing a repair, that after his workspace catching fire, getting splashed with acid, and a minor detonation, guild leadership 'upgraded' the artificer to a detached storage shed in back of the guild hall.
Goodbyes made and business lined up for a few days from now, the party makes their way to Evelyn's which turns out to be less of an inn, and more of what was probably once a modest sized cottage that has since seen multiple expansions and additions, almost as if a small village had been scooped together by the hands of giant, until it was somewhat difficult to tell where one structure ended and the next began. A wooden sign merely says "Evelyn's" outside the central structure, the wooden timber porch adding a bit of warmth and comfort to the stone walls and clay tile roof. Potted plants of various sorts line the walls and railing, and pushing through the wooden door, you are greeted by scents of food and light smoke, a reprieve from the sun-baked dust scent you have been traveling with approaching and entering the city. There is a soft humming sound coming from a doorway ahead and to the left, while the rest of the room extending to the right is filled with a mismatched assortment of tables and chairs, arranged in what seems to have been the convenience of the last people to sit there, rather than any sort of plan or intention. When full, you'd estimate that this common room could fit no more than two dozen, and even then it would be a bit tight. There is no bar top or counter, and true to Kayleera's assessment, it feels more like you've walked into someone's home than into an inn or tavern. The only other occupant (besides whoever is humming in the adjoining room), is an elderly fellow dozing by a cold hearth in a well stuffed chair. An open book in his lap, and lack of bottle or glass nearby suggests that he's napping between chapters rather than a daytime drunk.
As the door opens fully, a bell chimes softly above your head, eliciting a snort from the old fellow, and a halt in the humming. "I'll be right out, feel free to have a seat!", calls the feminine voice from the adjoining room.

Dornikal would have tried to orient himself in town as they went, he's got some visits he'd like to make after they get booked in.
Dornikal will find a seat and wave Garvey to take one nearby and say,
"Once we're settled here, aye have some people to check in on and aye think some of them would be good for ye to meet to get a more... stable education."
Evelyn's is near the western wall of the city, not far from the gate you all passed through. As Dornikal moves through the city, recollections come back to him, the other inns that Kayleera mentioned, he at least knows their general location (up to you if they are the sort of place he'd have frequented or tried before). The Crown and Saddle is to the north of the city, near the Academy grounds, while the Fillet'd Back is to the east, nearer the docks. There are certainly other inns, taverns and watering holes strewn throughout the city, those were just the three that were recommended to varying degrees. There are two main centers of commerce, the East Market and West Market, and while there is a fair bit of travel and trade that passes through both, those businesses concerned with the overland trade routes tend to set up in the West, and those dealing with seafaring trade to the East. In the middle is a large public square surrounded by some of the oldest buildings still standing, large stone edifices, some ornately carved. Dornikal makes a mental note to point out some of the good and bad decisions behind the stonework. A fair number of those buildings have been now turned over to administrative needs of the city, but small shops and the like to support those who worked in the areas.
While the city isn't broken down into strict residential, commerce, and industry zones, the majority of the populace does live in the south central part of the city, but that is more due to the Academy and Markets taking up swaths of the other cardinal directions. The jeweler's guild and the small chapel that Dornikal helped establish are to the northeast of Evelyn's, nearer to the Academy. There are researchers there that can properly appreciate a skillfully cut gem. Most of the dwarves he met during his time here reside in houses abutting the southwestern wall. Perhaps stereotyping to think that they prefer a wall at their back as a cultural memory of mountain homes, perhaps it's mere coincidence.

"Dornikal, Hank, you're familiar with this town some, yes? Is there a temple to Obad-Hai here?" Randy is remembering his conversation with Keldorian and his parting "gift".
"Lived here for a year or so a few years ago. Can't say that aye saw a temple to Obad-hai in the city, no. Staying in balance with nature isn't really what Torfelna, most cities aye'd wager, is about. Maybe aye missed it though, only visited the other dwarven shrines to pay meh respects a couple times."
((@Spider, is there a Temple district or a place that a temple to Obad-hai would likely be?))
There is no temple district as such here, though some shrines and temples to a shared pantheon may tend to be clustered together. From what Dornikal knows and recalls, nowhere that would seem to be a real clear cut place where a temple of that sort would have passed by his notice. Natural spaces are somewhat in short supply here, there are a few small parks scattered throughout, and the Academy might have an arboretum or greenhouse on their grounds, but memory of such might be a bit spotty. If there is, it wasn't near where the Geology department held classes.

You don't have long to wait before a matronly gnomish woman appears in the doorway, wiping her hands dry. From the flour on her apron, it seems likely she was in the midst of some sort of baking when you entered. Her eyes wrinkle as she beams a smile at you, reaching up to tuck an errant strand of grey hair into the bun at the back of her head.
"Oh, hello! Welcome, welcome! I'm Evelyn. Are you boys hungry?", she glances at your assorted packs, "Looking for rooms too?"
((Coljin and Ulmwin, at least. Anyone who would consider themselves familiar with gnomes as well: ))
She seems more likely to be a forest gnome than rock gnome, and her appearance would place her age somewhere beyond 250 years.

Ulmwin, earlier, might have been briefly tempted by the notion of "luxury", especially given how they had more money than they'd know what to do with now at these times, but it doesn't take long into the description of "Evelyn's" for him to wholeheartedly agree. And he seems only all the gladder when he sees the actual host, glad to see kin (if only very distantly related)
"We've had quite the trip, so I think we would all appreciate some food!" he quickly responds, only doing a cursory scan to see if the others agree. "And lodgings for us all too, yes. What do you have?"
"I have both, food and lodgings, but assuming you're asking about what food I have, we've some of this morning's bread yet, cheese and meat to go with that if you're wanting. Have some of lunch's vegetable soup, as well as herbed chicken and potatoes. Some other things I can put together too, if you're craving something particular. Getting started on dinner, but nothing's quite ready yet there... chicken pot pies will be the feature. How many rooms would you be wanting?"

"I usually make a mix of individual and family sized pies, still rolling out the crusts, so can make as many or as large as you want, dearie! Rooms of different sizes, private single person to ones that will sleep four."
"I've some coin, but if you're buying dinner, first round's on me... you do have ale?", Garvey asks Evelyn.
"Oh, we do indeed! We've got some house ales that a couple of my nephews make, and a few others as well."

Colin beams when he sees the owner is a forest gnome. “Glad we picked this inn, looks like just what we needed.” After a description of the food, Colin speaks up, “I'm So glad to meet you. I am Coljin Burberry. Though from nowhere near here. Are there many other forest gnomes in the city??"
"When we do eat, I’ll take chicken and taters. As to rooms? Ulmwin want to share one?”
"There's a fair few of us, most are in-laws or nieces and nephews of some sort or another. Pebblefoot. Evelyn Pebblefoot. The Tosswaggles, Dapplepockets and Thistlegrace are all kin. Burberry, you say... hmmm... any relation to a Horwin Burberry? Think he had a sister... Ellie? Ella? No, Elna. Horwin and Elna Burberry, though think she became a Fiddlecheek eventually. They moved west, oh... must have been last century, I reckon. Horwin dated my cousin's youngest, seemed a nice fellow..."
"Are you wanting the chicken and taters now? If you're wanting it for dinner in a few hours I can save some back for you, but any others are going in the pies."
Hank glances over to Garvey and the young halfling. "Not opposed, but also rather not feel like you're splitting the three of us up... I mean, I understand we didn't start off on a footing of trust, but if you'd rather that Garvey, Bimmfur and I aren't alone in a room, we could get a four bed?"
