(I probably shouldn't have pressed the order too much; it's not a long trip and you've got good stats anyway.)
About 10 minutes into the trip down the trail, something catches Duncan's attention rather passively. It is a particular pile of foliage that looks somewhat unnatural.
Upon closer inspection, he finds that hidden under it is actually a snare. It has been purposefully placed here to catch possible intruders of the trail. Will he disarm it or just carefully pass around it and tell the others to do so as well?
"If we trigger the trap, some may come running, which would allow us to deal with them in smaller groups. On the other hand, it might alert them to the fact that we are coming."
The party continues to walk down the goblin trail and another 10 minutes pass before Duncan stops.
Before him, another suspicious pile of leaves and dirt appears. Under it, however, is actually a pit. It is 6 feet wide and 10 feet deep. The only choice is to pass around it.
Duncan signals again to the second trap and continues down the path
Following the goblins’ trail, you come across a large cave in a hillside five miles from the scene of the ambush. A shallow stream flows out of the cave mouth, which is screened by dense briar thickets. A narrow dry path leads into the cave on the right-hand side of the stream.
From your current position, you don't happen to see anyone at the mouth of the cave, but the goblin tracks seem to be leading in its general direction. You would also have to cross the stream to be able to enter the cave safely.
How are you planning to proceed? If you wish to go stealthily in, everyone should roll a stealth check.
For reference, this is about how much you are able to see right now. You are somewhere on the western side of the stream and you cannot yet see behind the thicket on the eastern side.
"A front door... I wonder if there's a back door..." If it looks reasonable to scout the area about 100 yards or so from the cave. Maris will want to scout it out.

Stealth 13
Perception: 16
As it is a pretty large cave, it would take Maris too much time to explore it fully from the outside, but as far as he can tell, there are no visible signs that might point to another entrance.

"Wow! This looks so much like a goblin hideout!" Tessa whispers in excitement.
"I wonder if they have any guards around, or do they trust the traps are enough to keep enemies away."The halting squints her eyes, trying to see the cave entrance and the thicket across the stream. "Lets sneak closer to take a look"
Tessa draws her blade, and carefully moves closer to the cave mouth.

Perception 9
(OOC: How deep is the stream? Can a halfling walk/wade across, or is swimming required?)

The stream is only 2 feet deep, most creatures can wade through it.
Is everyone else following Tessa to the cave mouth or just staying in the back for now?
Duncan holds back for a second standing with Tessa. "I think you're right, this is too quiet for a goblin hideout." he mutters to himself I attempt to reach for Lillian to try and hold them back from going further.

It looks like you didn't add your dex modifier, so that's a 9.
Both Duncan and Tessa can see that the interior of the cave gets pretty dark further in.
Also, peeking through the eastern thickets, they see two goblin guards stationed there in a small retreated area, however, they are pretty bored and not paying any attention to the cave entrance right now.
You are not seen by anyone nor can you see anyone else right now, just to be clear.
"They are too far away for me to attack with my hammer. Seems to me the two best options are to strike first from range, or, I could go in far enough to get noted, retreat, and draw them to the rest of you. That second option has the potential benefit of pulling them away from any alarm mechanisms they might have close to them, but if there are any more traps between here and there, I could fall into them,"

Duncan holds up his hand to slow down and stops to show them of them trap before a little more carefully and slowly down the path.
"Definitely goblin antics. We must be on the right path" Duncan says in a hushed tone
"If we trigger the trap, some may come running, which would allow us to deal with them in smaller groups. On the other hand, it might alert them to the fact that we are coming."
"I agree, they may be nearby. If we continue quietly, they may not be ready, and we can fight on our terms."
