Gelin is appreciative of the company. Caradoc more than the rest can probably relate to his mental state.
"Just tryin' ta figure out how I fit into all this... You must feel the same. Seems we've fallen in with a bunch of gods and deities. Not sure how some average folk like us ended up where we are. Kinda crazy, right?"
"Crazy doesn't begin to describe it. Holes in the sky... Holes in the WORLD??? You sang a dragon to death, and I sat in a god's lap! But I think I get it, a little bit anyway. We need to keep them grounded... Generals and angels and high wizards and true priests - they will get caught up in their great thoughts and high callings, their codes and duties and vendettas... We won't. We aren't in this for any of that crap. We're in this because of love and loyalty - we stick by our friends, no matter what - but we don't let them forget the people like us walking around in the world. People getting crushed by the wars and greed and blind arrogance of folk just a tiny bit different than our friends."
The halfling runs his fingers through his hair and shakes his head ruefully. "How do we keep them from forgetting that no matter how badly they want to win, none of it matters if there's no one and nothing to come home to?"

Eshuvenniel Kazander Ravid,Valor Bard and Acolyte of the Goddess of Luck Caradoc Langham, Halfling Rogue - Lost Magics - Epic of Pre-made Proportions! I'm not looking for heaven or hell... just someone to listen to stories I tell...
Ennis does numerous things during the few days of relative calm afforded to the group. Some of the time is certainly spent going over his spellbook and notes in his newly acquired room in the keep (still haven't decided exactly where that is yet, but I'll work it out), but considerably more time is spent out and about in the newly christened Freehold Vale. He mingles with many of the common folk in the tavern and also makes time to meet with some of the feywild refugees and Sarith's folk. He takes some time just watching Domavi and Cyrnair work. He sits in on one or two of Frixori and Linene's classes, giving advice and insight when asked but otherwise letting them do their chosen work without interference.
He ends each day with some quiet time on the village green before retiring back to the keep, though the night before the party plans to set out he suggests everyone spend the evening together just relaxing at the tavern.
Carodoc, as you go sneak out of the bubble of protection, you are unseen in your small form. However, you also do not seem to see what Ky was talking about because of your lack of dark vision. You make it over to the edge of the rock wall, when from the corner of your eye, you see slight movement. It is a slow, steady movement that almost looks like... breathing.
Looking around, you still cant see what it is though. It looks like the stone itself is moving. Whatever it is still has not noticed you. What do you do.
Caradoc shrugs and turns back towards the hut. He waves his arms towards the group and gives them a quizzical stare, then points at his eyes and makes a gesture of negation, followed by a shrug and a questioning look.

With that excitement past, you complete your nights sleep and ready to complete your journey. As daylight hits your campsite, you inspect the area again, and find that the large hill Carodoc had walked to is no longer there. Instead, you find extremely large foot prints moving deeper into the mountains heading eastward. (Arcana check for those that wish to)
The next leg of your journey is more strenuous then previous, and it takes you nearly thr entire day to travel the next 7 miles of the journey along this old path.
As the sun sets once more, you climb over a final Crest of the mountain range. Below you is a valley that houses the ruins of an old mining village. It has a long row of completely dilapidated buildings. Wherever there was wood it has completely rotted away from the generations. Many are only foundation, while others are stone walls that have partially collapsed. In the center, is a large keep of sorts that butts up to the side of a sheer cliff. While the rest of the buildings look delapidated, this one looks more recently repaired. Looking at it, you get the sense that repairs were made by pulling the buildings apart and using the materials.
In the faint like of dusk, Ky and Ennis both notice movement around the keep. A group of Orcs walk around the back portion of the keep. Walking behind them is a Troll dragging a club behind it. At the front of the group, is a humanoid in black armor, with skin the same color as the armor, and stark white hair.
Ky, you also notice that the orcs and trolls all have a silver band around their necks.
The entire group is about 400 yards from the edge of this old ruined village, and about 100 feet up on the Crest of the valley. You are north and west of it. There is a path that leads down to the valley floor the way you have been traveling, and the hill is at a rough 30 degree decline down.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Being from a mountainous region, Flint is going to check his knowledge on such creatures: Arcana 7)
As the group begins the next part of their journey, Flint supposes it is as good as time as any to inform the group about the one he seeks. "So... I'm really not sure what all there is to tell about Blaise. I have all ready said in the past that she has killed my father," his expression becomes a bit more stern. "She looked to use her powers that she was blessed with to attempt to conquer rather than help the village. There were others in my village that came to her way of thinking as well and eventually they attempted to remove the elders, my father being one of them..." He continues walking in silence, reflecting on the events. After a few moments he adds, "I failed to make her see the faults in her ways. I lost two loved ones that day of the revolt - my father and her... She is beyond saving now I fear. Especially if she has allied herself to this Visarai."
Flint and Ennis both know that stone giants have an innate ability to blend in with rocks. Historically, they have been both benevolent and antagonistic to smaller folk. It seems as though you found a sleeping ground for them.
"If there is 1 patrol, there is probably more. I know Sarith seems to be a good drow, but most are terrible. Orcs are just as bad and trolls are never good. I think we may have to deal with these patrols, or try to get by them. What do you want to do?"

"He had abilities to absorb damage that would have killed others. I riddled him with arrows and he still stood fast against us, until Blaise called the retreat." Shaking her head sadly she says, "they would have been great allies, but I could not convince them to change their course."
"Look - I think we all have history, or baggage, or something behind us. I didn't leave Waterdeep on the best of terms, shall we say? "Not much of a dark past, here," Ennis responds almost nonchalantly, "but apprenticing under a renowned arcanist whose self-claimed goal in life is protecting the world from the abuse of arcane magic definitely comes with its own variety of baggage..."
He pauses for a moment, then reaches into the inside pocket of his coat and draws out the letter he found in Na'Thair.
"...like this actually."
He hands off the letter to anyone who wants to read it. (See Spoiler.)
"Please reconsider our offer for you to stay. We can provide anything that you might need and you will be a personage of great notoriety and prestige. We will give you a nest egg in which to start your own shoppe, so long as you share any new discovery and how to manufacture it with our artisans. You will receive an annual stipend, in which you can spend as you see fit, and you will have access to our vast liabraries, which go back centuries."
"The Eva'din has ruined her family name, and has caused great hardships on her people. She will lead you to the same ruin. This offer will only last until the next wizard comes our way, which seems more likely with magics returning to our world. Capitalize on it young man, before you miss out on a grand oppertunity."
Ky sees the letter and shakes her head. "He ways was a horrid man. Be glad to be away from him..."
Ky sighs, "My family is... was very prominent. We were thr bridge between the wood elves and the high elves. My father is a high elf, and it was always... difficult for me. I didnt belong in that world. I... brought it down around my family. But in doing so, I saved hundreds like Uncle. So what is a noble title and prestige if you let your people suffer."
Flint takes a look at the letter. "That dosen't appear to be so bad an offer.. if it weren't for having to associate with that one though," he chuckles recalling his interaction with the elf.
Flint begins to look around as they continue the journey towards the runjned village. "I believe those were stone giants that you almost came across, Caradoc. They know how to disappear into the rocks."
