"The arcane horror must be destroyed!" He shouts, dashing headlong into the alley. "On me!" He calls loudly, beckoning you and any other allies in earshot to follow. Looking around you see only the lone guard.

Angus will listen at the door, and if it seems like things are starting to go poorly for Chadderlay, (meaning he's about to get attacked or Nirresh is about to raise the alarm) he will charge out and try to grapple Nirresh, and hope some wizardy-person will take her out.

They intended to stay in or around the embassy, but they'll have something with them to light a torch if needed. Torches already lit line the walls so it's not like they have to stsrt a fire. This guard now in an alley has a torch, but didn't light it in his rush to find the infiltrators.
The city has street lights, lit nightly by the lamplighters. They would not cast much light into na alley, though. So, at best it's dim light near the entrance and most of it is dark.
RETCON: Akame is not yet with the group. You've never met her.
Edit: She is still outside the building.
Further, bigger RETCON
In light of recent announcements, (I don't care how you do it in your character sheet as I rarely look at them,) if you haven't already: add a 1st level feat to your character. I've long thought you should have one and now it seems WotC agrees. If you already have one from Vuman race, you don't need another one, but if you want to switch to Human and keep the feat, that's fine.
You can try to force D&DB to add it (somehow) or just add the effect any way you can, or if it's situational enough, or you dont want to bother with any of that, just write it as a note somewhere. Boom. New Feat
Recap: Sam is in the alley wirh tbe guard wearing the fourregere, looking for the arcane abomination that escaped rhe meatgrinder. The alley is dark. The guard is probably noticing this and moves to light a torch (a night guard definitely has one handy).
Angus will grab the dead guard's yellow badge, and then ask Chadderlay to lead them to the nearest stairway that leads up to the second floor, looking for the guard captain's quarters, or else going to the second level of the library for that book we needed..
Just noticed the guard is dead. Noted. (I had thought he was still alive. He has not been diacovered, as yet.)
The fourregere guard draws a torch and attempts to light it. He listens for movement and keeps his wits about him as he executes rhe well-pracriced movement.
perception 19
The guard is expecting a monster on this alley, but not an attack from behind. He would have the surprised condition if attacked by Sam or before he can light a torch as an action.

Akame Initiative 19
From the shadows facing Sam and the guard stepped a black-haired man in his mid-twenties, wearing a tunic clearly over a breastplate and carrying a shield and a staff. On his shield and the amulet around his neck is a symbol of Tymora. He stopped and said to the guard, who was nearest, "I need your badge, could you give it to me?" He smiled warmly and added." Please, and thank you."

At Chadderlay's insistence, expression and outstretched hand, Nirresh slaps a hand over her mouth to stifle her uncontrollable laughter. "Sorry," she whispers, regaining her composure, "That was just too much. But you're right, you never know who's listening. Listen, I know the Ambassador took your badge - we all know. I secretly hoped you had defected to the insurgents. I can't. Not yet. But I'm quite convinced you never plan to set foot in this place again after tonight. Here." She removes the red badge feom her robes and forcefully places it into Cjadderlus outstretched hand, curling his fingers up over the token as she does so, ensuring hia hand squeezes the badge tightly.
"Now, to set the stage for a convincing scene of the battle in which you..." she starts to crack a laugh, theough which she finishes, "...overpowered me. Sorry." she adds, remembering herself once more. "Let's just hope Ambassador fi ds it less preposterous or he'll have me as a donor for one of his experiments."
With that, she begins to cast a spell "Take care Chadderlay. Who k kws, maybe I'll see you again some day." With a wink she casts fireball for 40 fire damage.
The spell rips through the north hallway and into the central courtyard, incinerating many exotic plants, a few tapestries and a skeleton.
Chadderlay finds that he and Nirresh are unharmed. She uses [spell]prestidigitstion[/spe] to soil her Cloaks with what appears to be blood, then with a wave and a wink, collapses at the foot if the stone spiral stairs.
<she has a thing called sculpt spell, it let's her do the sorcerer thing and avoid hitting a number of creatures equal to 1 plus the spells level, so in theory she could have missed up to 7 if she wanted to. So, did Angus open the door first? Because, that would probably be bad.>
Angus will remain where he is for now, hoping that if Nirresh reacts poorly, he will still have the element of surprise to be able to disrupt whatever she's doing. He signals to Tesservett to be ready with a spell if they charge through.

Sam would look for a dark ally and say “their come quickly the abomination” hoping his guard would follow with no light source into the ally
The guard buys it.

Waiting on Chadderly before Angus, unless he just wants to stall and would prefer Angus burst from the door.
I can't say if it's going poorly or well, that's for you to decide.

So, Angus, is it going well, ir do you burst through the door before whatever is about to happen? Tetrevess is in there with you, btw.

I'll open the spoiler above once I hear what Angus decided. Anyone else can read it now.

Akame us up in the Alley.
Chadderlay, Tetrevess, Angus: what do you do?
(Subtle Spell command - WIS save DC 17 or fall prone.)
Almost with his next breath, Akame locked eyes with the guard and commanded him "Fall."
Despite having overheard the conversation, Angus rushes through the door at the sound of the fireball explosion, ready to attack. He looks at Chadderlay, looks at Nirresh, back to Chadderlay, and says, "Uh, everything Ok?"
