Augustin and Vakiel lift the skull up while the rest train their missile weapons or get ready to cast. The chief scrambles out, a little undignified. It stands there, holding the shield, ready to protect himself if the party should attack. It croaks softly, but no one can understand it. Stryke and Grimbald know that bullywugs speak their own language that has nothing in common with any other species.
The shield and the chest would indicate the Iron Circle have been here, and this fits with the intelligence you already have gathered. The Iron Circle delegation must have brought someone with magic to understand bullywug so they could communicate.
Stryke will grab and pull the chest out while Augustin and Vakiel have it lifted and kick the spear out away from the chief and out from the dragon skull
Stryke has dragged the chest out while the dragon skull was being lifted. It is sturdy and while not brand new, has definitely not accumulated much in the way of grime.
Augustin tries to communicate with the bullywug by pointings at his sword and then down the other unexplored corridor trying to determine if he will need his sword up ahead or if it is not necessary.
The bullywug chief croaks and points to himself walking, indicating he can go first. He points again to himself and then indicates a small height. He could be saying that there are young and other non-combatants down that corridor.
Esa tells Stryke to wait and keep his distance, just in case. She uses mage hand and flips the lid. Nothing explodes, no darts or gas. When you peek inside you see a large sapphire, the biggest gem anyone here has ever seen, and a few coins.
Also noted inside the dragonskull was a bowl with the same dark coloured viscous liquid that the bullywug chieftain used to coat his blade. It's starting to dry up. There is also a box with some holes and judging by the sounds it has some snakes inside, probably the supplier of the toxins.
Esa looks at the sapphire, it looks different. She's seen gems before, albeit smaller, back in the feywild, but this looks clearer. She suspects its actually just coloured glass.
Esa side-eyes Stryke before taking the gem to give to Augustin for safe keeping. He may not be smart, but he's honourable to a fault. He can hold onto it for now. She let's Stryke make a move for the coins, though, without saying anything
The coins seem newly minted. Vakiel has a look at one and grunts. He recognises them as from Sarthel, a city to the south.
There are 170sp, and 250cp, and about 1000 iron bits.
As an idea hits, Vakiel also looks at the spears and notes the spear heads are steel. There's no way the bullywugs would be able to manufacture these, so likely these also were gifts from the Iron Circle. The coins likely are just to make the bullywugs feel important and civilised as there is no way they could spend them.
Grimbald looks at the pool to the rear of the cave. It is 3 feet deep and contains dozens of translucent eggs, varying in size from the size of an apple to the size of a watermelon. There is a froglike creature - probably infant bullywugs - in some of the bigger eggs.
Vakiel will step up to help lift it

Stryke will take the coins and give the silver ones to Grimbald since he seems to like them so much. Anyone want the others
