(Hey there. I appreciate the enthusiasm and I know we have players with different post-rates, but I'm trying to keep things a little more organized. Right now, we are still wrapping up the surprise round. Krog, who was able to sense where the Ankhegs' locations with a successful survival check, is using that information to move to a more advantageous location [O9]. Billy chose to Hide [23, success] at his current location. Alistair still needs to resolve the ready action with his crossbow. Brockes failed his perception check and therefore wasn't able to move into a location to use his ready action with his axe. And Zeke didn't really declare an action. I suppose he can do so now.)
(Once the surprise round is done, I will ask for initiative rolls and we can enter normal combat rounds. Until then, please hold your posts until I can get resolutions from Vetallica for Alistair's crossbow attack and Mazra for Zeke's action. My apologies if this sounds rude. It's hard to convey tone in writing but it's intended as a friendly request to help me keep track the order of events and not miss anything/anyone.)
Zeke moves between Alistair and the southern bug (J14), shouting various unprintable statements about the monster’s heritage and habits. More usefully, he also fingers his amulet and reverently calls upon Moradin for Divine Favor. Then he returns to taunting the Ankheg with an enthusiasm that would make a passerby wonder what the poor bug had ever done to the dwarf.
(Zeke can't move to the Ankheg yet because he doesn't know where the Ankheg is going to surface. That would first require a successful perception or survival check at DC15 in place of using Divine Favor. It's the same reason why Krog was able to move into position during the surprise round but Brockes was not.)
Alistair's fingers tighten around the crossbow, his aim steady and true. The dark melody falters, replaced by a silent focus as he lines up his shot. The ankheg, a grotesque abomination of nature, seems to slow in his perception, its movements ponderous and predictable. With a swift release, the bolt flies, a dark missile propelled by his growing power. Attack: 11 Damage: 8
i know this sounds dumb but i was reading the campaign still but I was removed from it making it quite hard to stay along.(unless the sute is wrong but it says I am in no campaigns)
Hello all! I'm sorry I've been an absentee here. Life's been a bit challenging lately and I've hit the point where I have to admit that I'm just not living up to my obligations and not likely to change that soon.
This is where deadbeat DMs normally say they're putting the game on a hiatus but I'm going to be honest. If and when I come back I doubt there will be any players left and, if there are, they deserve a fresh start.
Anyway, I wanted to say that this has been a great group and I'm proud to have gotten to DM for you. I'm sorry I didn't live up to my aspirations and I hope nothing about this experience deters any of you from continuing to play, here or elsewhere, in the future! I will still be around, in a very reduced role. So if there's anything I can help with, feel free to reach out.
Again, I'm terribly sorry. I really swore that I wasn't going to be that DM, I've had my own experiences with them as a player, but here we are. I sincerely hope I get the chance to make it up to all of you some day.
All the best in your future adventures (real and imaginary)!
Mazra: because Krog made a successful survival check as his action, he can still move and/or take a bonus action before combat starts.
Kaos: Billy is successfully hidden
Vetallica: Alistair can use his readied crossbow action to shoot at Ankheg 3
Bill & Dieheart: You'll be able to act once we enter the first combat round
Ankheg Initiative: 3
Krog will move to M5 if possible.
He can but the elevation difference means that he and Ankheg 3 won't be able to attack each other with melee weapons.
Zeke to J14
initiative 18
In that case, Krog will move to O9 and be ready to attack.
Billy will attack with his crossbow Ank3
Attack: 10 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
I forgot advantage for being hidden I will roll again please take best one.
Attack: 7 Damage: 8
