The Skeleton raises its shield as Trystane attacks it, and then lashes out with its own sword, threatening him with an honest-to-goodness swordfight. It tries to stab him with its sword, but the attack bounces off the Slayer's defenses.
The zombies keep shambling forward until Tyrstane is suddenly boxed in, but they're unable to attack. Not yet.
Turn Summary
Movement- Zombies move up to Tyrstane Actions- Skeleton Attacks: Disadvantage, 12 to hit (MISS)
Trystane has no trouble to evade the skeleton‘s efforts but is slightly worried about the arrival of the zombies. Now he has to watch more angles and it will put his opponents at advantage. However, sometimes weak enemies give you opportunities against stronger ones as he had learned ages ago. He infuses his Greatsword with bristling green fire and directs an attack against the nearest zombie, which misses phenomenally. The green fire doesn’t even leap over to the skeleton and simply dissipates as a grey-green smoke. Trystane, careful not to overextend in a battle where numbers are against him, wards himself against damage possibly inflicted by the undead.
Things go spectacularly wrong for the forces of DOOM as they circle up around Trystane. What should be an easy victory becomes a testament of bumbling incompetence as the air is rended by claws and a sword...but no harm falls upon Trystane...
Turn Summary
Movement- None Actions- 2 Zombies and 1 Skeleton attack, but nothing hits (no rolls higher than 16)

The flames licked and crawled over it, consuming its bones and crumbling them to powder while the zombie continued to cant to the side, just for enough for Trystane to reach out and bring its head down into his knee, breaking it like a pot full of dust. The body fell away, leaving one lone zombie to strike at him...
A flaming spike is hurled at Trystane from the corner of the statue in the middle of the landing, striking him hard in a gap in his armor. He can see that it came from the south eastern corner. He feels the heat of the stab wound, and then the poison...
Turn Summary
Movement- None Action- Zombie: Attack- 21 to hit, 6 damage *Imp: Attack- 25 to hit (CRIT), 8 piercing damage + 10 poison damage
After disposing both, the skeleton and the first zombie, Trystane was ready and anticipated the second zombie’s attack, parrying it entirely. Though the zombie crashed into his armor spiked with icicles. Then he pushes the zombie just far enough away to get in a swing with his large greatsword, aiming to decapitate the undead creature, which barely manages to avoid the strike enough to keep its head attached with a string of tissue. Trystane directs a final blow with his sword handle to separate it and end the creature’s undead existence. A vicious imp used his Trystane’s distraction to hurl a spike at him. Trystane’s armor absorbed a small portion of the attack’s damage but it couldn’t possibly help against the poison that it applied to his system. In a swift movement that belies the weight of his heavy armor, Trystane closes the gap to the imp and strikes at the fiend.
Reaction: Parry 7 damage from the zombie’s attack (no damage left), but 6 cold damage to zombie for armor of Agathys Free: absorb 3 damage from the imp‘s piercing damage (5 remaining plus 10 poison damage) Legendary Action: attack zombie with Greatsword, hit 11 for 15 damage Bonus: Glory strike against zombie (I’m assuming having dealt 21 damage), hit 17 for 5 damage Move: move towards the imp Action: Greatsword attack against imp (if not in range he’d attack with an eldritch blast), hit 26 (critical) for 25 slashing + 4 magical bludgeoning damage (or for ranged: 16 force + 4 magical bludgeoning damage)
(Edited to include critical strike rule that the first damage roll deals maximum damage. This increased the great sword damage by 8 — 12 instead of the rolled 10 plus the ability and genie’s wrath — and the optional ranged damage by 6 — 10 instead of the rolled 6 plus the genie damage.)
Cold creeps across the skin of the zombie, leaving behind icy crystals before the greatsword hews into it. The zombie staggers to the side before Trystane's fist catches it in the head, breaking the freezing head clear off its shoulders and destroying it.
His Eldritch Blast flies when he's freed up from killing the zombie, nailing the Imp and utterly destroying it with one shot.
Taking a moment to gain his barings, Trystane would see multiple undead in the open ground in front of Castle Grayskull, most of which are either milling aimlessly or, in most instances, those that have noticed him, locking on to him and shambling his way. He can feel the power of Grayskull as it washes over him, revivifying him and preparing him to fight yet again...
Turn Summary
All enemies are now destroyed.
Trystane takes a Mechanical Long Rest as the power of Grayskull restores him
Trystane stares at the imp. Until now it was only undead. The imp, a creature from the Nine Hells, with its malevolent presence stands in a stark contrast to the mindless undead. The experience left him both wary and resolute, knowing his battles will reached into darker, more infernal realms than he originally thought."Are there any others?" he reaches out to the sorceress. "What am I fighting for? Who am I fighting for?" he asks, while refreshing his defences (Armor of Agathys and Protection from Evil and Good) after the Grayskull castle had replenished his energy. "Will they stop after they get me?" he worries and recharges the rune on his forehead before readying an Eldritch Blast on the nearest zombie to launch when he gets in range.
"The legions of DOOM will be vast and many. Undead, fiends, things that haunt the infernal plains. They've been summoned by Ganon to destroy Hyboria, to wrest the world from mortal hands and scrub it devoid of life. They will not stop until they've completed this goal, until they've killed everyone and everything here, and merged Hyboria with the realms of DOOM. You are all that stands in their way."
The task seemed daunting as Trystane heard this and looked out over the desert before him. The cold wind had whipped up a couple of areas of ice on either side of a dune, and hordes of undead slowly moved his way. To his left was some fiend, probably a Spined Devil from the looks of it, while in the back a shambling skeleton with rags of dried flesh still hanging from it sported a bow...
All of them looked set to move forward and take Castle Grayskull.
"The Castle is just one more speedbump in their trek, as will be all the other strongholds in Hyboria. This one just happened to house you."
Trystane lets fly with the Eldritch Blast at the nearest zombie...
"You think you can manage them once I'm off hunting south-west? There seems no end to it!" Trystane fires the blast at the ash zombie as soon as it was in range and another as soon as he could manage. Then, he moved to engage with the nearest zombie and jumped at it with a powerful arc of his sword. Having been unable to eliminate any foe, he hopes that his enchantments will hold (Protection from Evil and Good and 5 temporary HP from Armor of Agathys).
Reaction: Eldritch Blast @Ash zombie, hit 18 for 3 force damage Legendary Action: Eldritch Blast @Ash Zombie, hit 11 for 4 force damage Move: in melee with Strahd zombie, at the far side from the ash zombie (NW hex) Action: Greatsword @Strahd zombie, hit 21 for 9 slashing damage and 2 magical bludgeoning
"No, but they're not after Grayskull or I." The Sorceress replies. "They're after you."
The Eldritch Blast flew, hitting its target with ease before the second shot was fired. Then the sword arced. The tougher zombie that Trystane had attacked weathered the attack surprisingly well, but still took a significant hit from such an attack.
As Trystane engages the zombie, the nearby Spined Devil takes flight and whizzes past him, hurling two tail spikes as it goes. The first misses, as does the second, while the zombie does its best to grab him. As it swings its one good remaining arm, the left, the right arm falls off...and continues trying to attack Trystane as well.
The horde before him begins to close in, while the skeleton in the back draws its bow and begins to fire. The arrows all whiz past without doing any damage...

Trystane's sword hits hard, then carves clean through the zombie on its return swing, spilling it to the ground with ease in a destroyed heap. Freed up, he moves around the approaching enemies and gives chase to the spined devil as it tries to make its escape. He almost catches it, but its fly speed gives it a distinct advantage as it moves away, firing more of the spikes at him, neither of which hit their target.
The Ash Zombie staggers after him, into his line of movement, and tries to bash itself against him, but Trystane sidesteps easily enough even as the Armored Skeleton joins the attempt. Its attempt to hit him with its sword goes nowhere. Arrows fall around him from a distance.
Another skeleton stumbles down from the dune and moves toward Trystane while multiple skeletons and zombies press forward, moving toward him.

Trystane, pinned down by the surrounding undead, turns to face both of the two, leaving the archer at his back for now. With a wide swing of his greatsword, he attempts to strike at both at the same time. Ready to kick either of them to finish them off, he hopes to be able to retreat to the statue where he first spotted that flying devil for cover against the arrows, at least until he had time to sort out where they are coming from. Still, if they prove too resilient, he is determined to remain locked in battle, risking exposure to the arrows hailing down on him - and spines - he thinks, shooting a brief glare at the devil that escaped him narrowly.

The greatsword cuts into the ash zombie, staggering it before the pommel of the sword crushes its skull and spills it to the ground. Ash puffs into the air, around Trystane's face as the second swing hits the armored skeleton and staggers it as well.
Arrows fall around the Doom Slayer as the Archer takes aim, and spines sail past him uselessly. The rest of the horde continues to approach, while one skeleton moves in close, taking the place of the fallen Ash Zombie. It attacks but hits nothing but air...

Not counting severed limbs, Trystane managed to get all his opponents on one side. He feels that he is starting to get the situation under control, slowly removing one undead after the other. If only the dust would finally leave his eye! Bloody zombie. What was he thinking crushing that dust brain the way he did? He forces himself to blink but the watering eye doesn’t register anything of worth. He knows that one of the skeletons in front of him carries a shield, it had just tried to bash him. The other was wearing a lighter weapon and probably less armor. He infuses his great sword with infernal fire and strikes at the skeleton, and again, infernal fire leaping from one to the other each time. Ready to finish off any of the two skeletons, he forces himself again to open his eyes hoping that the dust would finally washed out enough for him to get some of his vision back.

Trystane locked eyes with ash zombie when its head crushed and a cloud of ash explodes from its skull. A moment of terror when the ash bit into his eyes, [Tooltip Not Found]ing his vision. But his training took over quickly and he forced himself to breath calmly, trusting the perception of his other senses. He holds his large sword with a single hand and grabs his arcane focus with the other. His eyes closed he focuses on the weave around him and sends two bursts of pure force waves outwards against his foes.

The swirl of blades damages the armored skeleton bad enough in the first salvo that it staggers back out of the range of the second volley...but not before Trystane can reach out and grab its skull in his fist and crush it, keen senses guiding his hand regardless of dust in his eyes. The second skeleton aptly jukes the first swirl before getting hit by the second.
The disembodied arm crawls up next to Trystane and tries to claw his leg but can't get through the armor, while the skeleton tries to stick him with a shortsword and misses. Another Armored Skeleton gets in close and tries to slam him to the ground with its shield but is no match for the Doom Slayer's superior strength...

The first swing with the Green Flame Blade is parried by the skeleton, as well as the second attempt. It's mouth opens and it makes a sort of chuckling hiss like it's trying to laugh.
The Spined Devil continues its westward movement until it gets an angle where it can fire at Trystane, unleashing a volley of its tail spikes, but they go wide, as do the arrows fired by the skeletal archer. The Slayer sidesteps a swipe of the armored skeletons sword as well as an attempt to strike him by the regular skeleton. As they attack, an ash zombie shambles up behind them...

Finally, Trystane managed to blink the dust out of his eyes. With a snarl he infuses his large sword again and directs it at the skeleton with the short sword. If his plan works the cackling energy from his sword will jump over to the much heavier armoured undead and hit it without the need to penetrate its defences, and again with a second try. Should any of the skeletons stumble, he's ready to finish it off with a well placed kick.
