Gray will go to speed things up since we're not doing init, and in a war situation, he would, in reality, just be swinging back and forth his Bigby's hand, not waiting for another party to do something.
Gray, moving his hand in sync with the glowing blue hand, grabs a ghoul, throws it up into the air, and smacks it to the earth, killing it. It happens to land on the foot of the remainging zombie.

Gray dispels the hand. "We only need to hold them off until everyone is behind the main gates, where they'll be safe." He points at the human Scout that had killed the first ghoul. "Go make sure everyone gets out. There are more ghouls coming, but we can take care of them. Tell the city guard to retreat behind us." He turns to Kaettar. "Can you use turn undead or something. It would give us a huge advantage."
DM: The scout runs off, and the city guard moves behind the party, ready to provide aid if needed. The sound of hungry ghouls growling gets closer, joined by the sound of rattling skeletons. Suddenly skeletons begin flooding the area in front of the character, followed by ghouls behind them.
Wave two: 20 skeletons and 10 ghouls, total of 480 HP. They are 120 feet away. Have fun!!!!
Edit: OOC: I hope y'all are good with Gray taking the lead in combat. Even though he is a wizard with only 72 hit points, I have zero plan on having him take a support role in combat. He is powerful, and has proficiency with martial weapons. I plan on having him play the role of one of the main fighters.

OOC: THis is supposed to be a quick encounter, so I'm going to start doing this. I want to have us in the jungle by tonight.
Gray, seeing the horde surge forward, flies into the air, casts shadow blade, creating a Trident of shadow. He descends on the horde from above, attacking with his newfound weapon twice before rising into the air again, out of reach.
