name: Curtain (from the sound opening curtains make on a stage)
Race: Kenku
subclass: College of Creation
Stats: Ability scores: 141513121510
Backstory: Curtain had simple origins, being born to a craftsmen couple. But he had unusual looks, like those of a white-necked raven, giving him a collar-like area of white feathers around the bottom of his neck. This inspired him to always seek to make himself showy in everthing he did. Though he learned his parents skills of woodworking and tailoring, he used them to become a puppeteer, and the Kenkus natural mimicry he harnessed for singing. But knowing he can't do everything by himself, he has been seeking other bards to join together as a band.
Backstory: Born in a seaside town, Klaus lived a quiet life with no real goals. Then the "Circus of Marvels" came to town in its gaudy flash and pomp. He was immediately smitten with the apparent freedom the entertainers enjoyed! He suddenly craved the adventure and lifestyle these folks enjoyed, so he signed on initially as a manual laborer. Eventually he learned that the travelers needed to protect themselves while traveling and in certain parts of the towns they stopped at. This was when he trained in the fighting style of one of the older guardsmen. Under that guidance he had become a full member of the traveling troop. He takes his experience form that in his new adventure among these new companions. +
Module: any of the three.
band name: Good with any of the names chosen for the band.
... and a bit suggestion unless this is the point -- bands need bass players, backup players and session musicians too. Might be a bit volatile mix if EVERYONE's in the same band and also all the lead singer / lute player / dancer type

True. That makes me think...
@DM - Would do you think of me using a custom Bard subclass I created, College of Art? I'm not necessarily choosing to use it if allowed, but if it's an option, I'd consider it (would partly depend on stats, honestly.)
NAME: Sterling Black RACE: Variant Human SUBCLASS: College of Art ALIGNMENT: Chaotic Neutral BACKGROUND: Failed Merchant (Jeweler) MODULE:NOT Phandelver (I'd prefer any other) POSSIBLE BAND NAME: (The) Constellation BACKSTORY:
Having been orphaned before he even knew his parents, Sterling was raised in poverty by selfish and greedy relatives who resented having to take him in. It didn't help that he was a youth with his head stuck in the clouds, always talking about magic, artistic topics, stories of adventure, and curiously, how he'd make a lot of money when he grew up. If he had had encouraging support, it might have happened... but between constant discouragement from the family and a lack of instruction in (or chances to practice) the basics of business, he was probably fated to become a failed merchant. He worked as a teen, but with the family always taking their share, it wasn't until he left on his own and got an apprenticeship at a leatherworker's shop that he was finally able to spend his free time on his artistic pursuits, and to start saving for his true dream--that of a well-to-do, cultured jeweler with his own business.
A modest loan got him off to a good start, but after a few deals went sour--mainly due to his inexperience in the trade--he had to close the shop. It was quite a blow to the young man, but a bard who'd been a customer recognized his potential as an adventurer (Sterling had actually picked up a few spells from a local wizard in his downtime,) and helped him get his first mission under his belt. The young man, clever if not always wise, quickly found a succession of mentors to learn the trade of a bard, and eventually managed to cobble together his talents into his own unique brand of bardic magic, one that let him sculpt fashionable yet functional leather goods, often adorned with gemstones and jewels, and infuse them with arcane energies. He now continues trying to earn enough coin on his outings to reopen his shop--albeit a leatherworking shop, this time (probably specializing in armor, if it works out....)

OTHER CLASS IDEAS: I think a group of all Warlocks would work as well... although you'd probably want to be upfront about how many Hexblades you'd accept.

As the subclass is currently written, I wouldn't allow it. I think the sigil and empowered artwork need some form of limit. Currently they are limited in how many you can create per day but not how many total. I'd allow it if either they lost magic after each long rest (prefer the next option personally), or if the maximum number at once was equal to x (possibly proficiency bonus, cha mod or some other number scaling with level)
I am willing to switch over from Swords to crossbow/dex build using Valor bard if you need a rounding out of Bard types. And that would be more in the line as a guardsman for the previous circus experience.
Edit: After making the above statement, I've decided to do just that as it makes sense for my character type.

Hmm. I actually like that sort of limit (I always thought just having an flat number as a limit seemed arbitrary, and it's been awhile since I worked on it.)
I'll go ahead and modify the official subclass to have the number of each of those features scale with CHA bonus, then if you approve the change, I'll choose that for my bard application.

This is now closed. But I doubt I will get time to properly review them all tonight. I'll send out pms tomorrow to those accepted and will post here once done
Pms sent earlier than I expected. It was a hard choice and I almost went with two groups but decided that I would just do a separate application in a bit for a different class, and give priority to those who almost got in this time.
Rolled on an incomplete submission. Didn't think that one through!😅
Am interesting concept. Looks like there are plenty of people interested.

Cats go Moo!
If the race isn't acceptable, it can be changed.
Cats go Moo!
I was thinking the same. As the bard I have played most I was shocked to not see any.
This has had better interest than I expected. I will close recruitment in around 36 hours depending on how fast applications come in.
After joining more my signature got out of hand so I am now a proud member of the extended signature club!! :)
Hopefully someone will see this and rise to the challenge then😁
Personally, I'd want two Lore Bards. One for the party healer and one for a pseudo-wizard. Gotta get Revivify and Fireball in there somehow😆
Fun! Placeholder stats

Not if our performances are coordinated. Two people dancing, one or two playing. Maybe someone with a free mouth puts it to use, too.
Edit: Crap, that came out wrong. I meant singing.
Given my username, I pretty much have to go for this, lol. Stat rolls: 11 11 14 14 13 13
