The dark-haired young man reflexively takes a step back as the fire erupts from the fleshy champion, admittedly not expecting the thing to be this ridiculously tenacious. Surely it wouldn't be able to take much more beating now.
Parties Turn! *silently praying they don't get anymore crits*
Tabitha gets a crit. On her dex save.... so 10 fire damage. Lance gets a 10 total, and then manages to jump in the way of the strike on Tabitha, taking the full blow of both attacks and powering down.
Tabitha screams in rage. "Sir Lance-a-stop the Third was greater than you will ever be! No one will ever even know your name!" (and it is now that I realise that I have not prepared any offensive spells.) Her rage does mean that she attacks more sloppily (used a luck point and still only rolled a 2 and a 3) 10to hit so not rolling damage. I will also assume that Petal (homunculus) was in her pocket so took the fire damage (even 10 is enough to kill her) and therefore her pocket now contains a pearl instead of Petal (also to be resummoned at the end of a long rest)
Erven remains hidden in the shadows and keeps pulling arrows out to fire into the undead abomination. The arrow flies to its mark, he looks afterward at his companions to see how badly they have been burned, injured. He contemplates moving forward to engage in melee, but he continues to remain hidden for now.
Longbow : 16 to hit, for 6 points of piercing damage. Another 5 points of damage from hunter’s mark.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Ketangu, mustering all his strength and speed, rushes forward, his dodging hit and run tactics confounding to the lumbering Champion. He swings his spear and once again unleashes a flurry of blows at the Champion with his tentacles. But, he is slowing down, and one of his attacks merely bounces off the tough hide of the Champion
Khessa, redirecting the flames of death, absorbs some of the dark fire into her greatsword, causing the blade to be engulfed in dark fire. Turning the evil power back on the Champion, she swings her blade, but the vile energy of the flames starts to creep towards her arms. Noticing the foul corruption, her aim is put off course and slashes nothing but air. She quickly whispers an incantation to get rid of the fire, but the flaming strike is wasted.
Jack keeps using his tried and true method, blasting the Champion with all his magical might. The crackling bolt connects, blasting off one of the Champion's foul horns that it apparently has just for show. Cultists these days and their undead flesh champions. So melodramatic and over the top.
Tabitha, leaping out of the way avoids most of the fire, but Lance takes the full brunt of the magical flames. Then, the overhead strike from the Champion comes crashing down, and Lance leaps in front of Tabitha, shielding his body with hers. With a crack and whir, the blow connects, and the electrical life fades out of the Steel Defender's eyes. Enraged by this, Tabitha swings wildly, missing with her mace as she howls with a lion-like fury.
Erven, like Jack, also continues to assail the beast, although his weapon of choice is a little sharper. Once again, he fires an arrow that would have outright killed a normal man, but the undead stamina of the Champion makes withstand these brutal attacks. For now.
The Champion looks severely weakened, but is not down yet. It still has some fight left in it. Once again, it's eyes begin to glow, and a whispering wind fills the air. Something is about to happen.
Mud and Kit (I know you were waiting Grover, but all the people who had to make saves did, so I think it's safe to act now), Your turns!
The Champion has taken 238 damage. Current status effects are Erven's Hunter's Mark.

Kit continues her assault, calling on the powers of her conviction and skill to heal some of her wounds. This foul thing would not get the best of her. Not today, not ever.
Gonna bot for Mud.
Mud attempts to send forth another surge of lightning, but the Champion merely bats it aside. His concentration broken, Mud has to rethink his tactics, and he thinks he has just the right trick. This time, he raises his hands, and swirling gusts surround him. His eyes glow, and the gusts stream forth towards the broken form of the Necromancer. The winds draw forth the cruel dagger clutched in the Necromancer's cold, dead hands, and then send it propelling towards the Champion, blade first.
Mud casts Catapult at second level for 21 Piercing damage if the Champion fails a DC 14 DEX save
Champion's DEX save: 18
Kevori's Turn!
Frustrated and scared, she sends another arrow, knowing it will probably do nothing. Why can't she just kill this monster. this monster which killed her brother. Anger crosses her face, and she cries out, distressed and feeling alone as she tries to land a hit
Kevori's ShortbowAttack VS. Champion: 9 to hit. Hit: 6 Piercing damage.
Champion's Turn!
The Champion, enraged and injured, responds to Kevori with a roar of its own "You will not defeat me! I am the god of secrets! I KNOW ALL!" and lunges forward, trying to rip and tear the party to shreds. It's eyes glow once more, and two shadowy tendrils snake out from them, slithering through the air like an astral dragon. The dark tentacles suddenly dash forward, striking straight into the heads of Ketangu and Erven. Their faces suddenly contort in pain.
Twombley, Weathervision:
The shadowy tendrils worm their way inside your mind, and begin to pry. Though they have no substance, they probe the depths of your memories, searching for something. Then, they find it. Pain shoots through your mind, agony beyond any you have ever known as the tentacles steal your secrets, learning to fight you better. And knowing your deepest, darkest memories. The ones you keep locked away in the back of your mind.
I need Erven and Ketangu to make DC 12 WIS saves. On a failure, you take 15 Psychic damage and your next attack roll against the Champion has disadvantage
Suddenly, the tendrils retract, going back into the withered sockets of the Champion's face, and it smiles, breathing in as if smelling a delightful scent. After this excursion, you're not sure if you'll ever smell anything delightful again. It is putrid down here. And the rotting flesh isn't helping. It's grin is wide as it looks at its two victims, and simply says "I know what you did." then, it charges forward, barreling towards the group, clawed arms outstretched, ready to slice you to ribbons. It pounces on Khessa first, knocking her aside, then leaps upon Ketangu as if a furious, mauling beast.
The Champion makes two Claw Attacks
Champion's Claw Attack #1 VS. Khessa: 10 to hit. Hit: 12 Slashing damage and you are knocked prone
Champion's Claw Attack #2 VS. Ketangu: 17 to hit. Hit: 13 Slashing damage and you are knocked prone
Party, GO!

Khessa interposes the heavy blade of the Greatsword, deflecting the champion's claw - who, to her dismay, still manages to knock her aside, despite her doing everything she can to block its path and protect the companions behind (including poor Ketangu).
"Where do you think you're going!?" the blonde arcane warrior growls, using the brute force of the monster's blow to power her next circular slash, a blow delivered not by opposing the violence of the parried attack, but by seconding it and making it her own in the response "It's me you're arguing with, Mr Stiched!"
[[ OOC: Khessa is missed by the attack. She responds with an attack with the Greatsword, using her Inspiration to gain Advantage. If possible, she uses her movement to get back into position to protect those behind her from the Champion's violence. ]]
Sir Venquist hated the attack, constantly berating Kit for attempting to use it in sparring. The longsword wasn't meant for this style of fighting. It was unwieldy. It was too easy to block.
He had only taught it to her because the exertion was physically demanding enough to make it a suitable punishment when he found her lacking.
He had made her practice it frequently.
So, as Kit closed ranks with Khessa once again, the lunge at the cultist 's 'champion' came to her as naturally as breathing...
(must have hit the delete when I meant to type the close parenthesis🤔 Also had to retcon the double handed grip. Got her briefly confused with a different character currently fighting with a longsword and no shield.)
Erven feels the tendrils weave their way into his brain, start to see the landscape of his village and the amount of death that he walked away from, but then an iron curtain comes down, shutting his mind off from the probing of this vile creature. Erven’s hand reflexively goes to an antler that is tied to his belt, feeling it for it like a well worn rub rock, a reassurance in the dark of who he is, where he has come from. His teeth grit, and his hands go back up to his arrow, as he pulls the bow taut and fires again at the foul undead thing.
The distraction has its effect, causing Erven’s shot to go wide. He hisses to the foul thing, “You have but a tiny glimpse. It will pale in comparison to what I’m going to do to you. Try as you might, you will not leave this place. Your end is near…”
Ketangu, resisting the effects of the tendril, uses all his focus and training to deliver a vicious assault, the point of his spear driving straight through the leg of the Champion, then whapping it upside the head with a solid tentacle strike. Khessa follows, parrying the deadly blow then swinging her blade around for a heavy-handed riposte.
Kit once again repeats the motions, the movements bringing her back to her days as a young child, training to be better than her brother. Sadly, her attacks have become too predictable, and the champion bats it aside, and also manages to knock away the blast from Jack.
Erven draws an arrow, giving a biting retort as he lets it fly. But, his aim is off and the arrow flies straight for...
Rolling a D6 from Erven's sheet to determine who he hits...that's a four, so that means it hits...
Khessa! The arrow flies forward, and strikes the warrior-mage. Oh no!
Rolled on Erven's sheet. That was an 18 to hit for 8 points of piercing damage.
The Champion looks severely injured. One more push should do it in!
Mud, Tabitha, your time is now! Finish it off!

Khessa senses the whoosh of Erven's arrow that is about to hit her and intones esoteric syllables as her left hand quickly releases from the hilt of the Greatsword to perform an elegant gesture with her fingers... and so the arrow bounces off an invisible (but impenetrable) barrier.
[[ OOC: Khessa uses her Reaction to cast Shield, using her last spell slot, but avoiding to be taken down by friendly fire. ]]
"If your claim of knowing all was true, you would know you messed with the wrong people. Your cultists killed the wrong brother, and you killed the wrong constructs"
And she swings her mace hard at the champion, 21 to hit and 7 magical damage.
Khessauses her the last of her magical energy, using it to form an impenetrable shield around herself, deflecting the errant arrow.
Tabitha charges forward, her emotions fueling her furious attack as she leaps almost impossibly high, and swings her mace into the face of the Champion. The stitches holding the Champion's head on rip and the head flies across the room splatting against the wall.
Finally, the foul creature has been defeated!
The whirring of the arcane device in the center of the room stops and crumbles, and then, a loud, rasping voice speaks, coming from everywhere and nowhere all at once. "You have defeated my minion. But, we will meet again, foolish heroes. And next time, you won't be so lucky. But, you have done well, for mortals anyway, and I offer you a gift: The blessing of my Hand, or the blessing of my Eye. Choose wisely. Your destiny awaits, foolish heroes. And it will not be kind." The voice fades, and in your mind, you see a decayed hand next to a decayed eyeball. You must choose or face the consequences.
I need everyone to describe what they do in the aftermath of the battle, as well as which option they choose.
