“I have an idea… something to keep them from escaping out the front and attacking us from the rear. Is everyone ready? After I do this, we run to the other entrance and attack them from that side. I .. have a lucky token .. that my master gave me that may help us. I’ve been waiting to use it, and now may be such a time….”
Danon moves closer and then from 30 feet away from the entrance that the Verbeeg came from, he casts elementalism, creating a 5 foot wide flame with burning embers, giving off dark smoke and smelling like burned bodies, a funeral pyre - at the opening to the cave. He runs to the other opening where the others have gathered and they make their entrance hoping to flank and surprise the enemies within.
As he’s running, he pulls out his orc stone, creating beside him / running with him a orc war chief, Danon turns to him and says “Chief Obould, my master gave me this stone with your spirit that you could fight and earn honor once more! Help us now, fulfill that old pact and bond of years ago, fight, with me!” Danon keeps running toward everyone at the opening and then joins the crew trying to enter silently, telling Obould to enter 15-20 feet behind him.
Etriel Darastrix, attentive to what is happening, cannot help but notice Danon's move and, looking at him in admiration with her green eyes, she thinks: 'A son of Gruumsh! Lord Danon is able to force to obey - and even to perform a useful or even benevolent act - an Orc, a member of that race who worship He Who Never Sleeps, that warmongering one-eyed deity. Oh, Sehanine Moonbow, thank you for having led my steps this far in our journey, so as to show me even this incredible wonder'.
After that, the foreign traveler goes back to focusing on the hunting action... it is time to take down the prey, for the good of Icewind Dale and its inhabitants.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Neldak lets those who want to go first go, then quickly follows behind them to the cave with the stream. He also looks impressed at Danon's summoned companion and makes a mental note to ask him about the stone when he gets the chance.
You make your way inside (map will get updated on Monday hopefully) with your plan in place that will limit them to come through one at a time. The bear does smell you approaching however so starts coming through first. The others noticing and so are not surprised (but are still bottlenecked). Due to placement however, the bear doesn't quite make it to attacking, though dashes to be in melee with the person who was at the front (Etriel?)
"You wanted excitement." Neldak says from behind Idalie and begins casting a spell.
If he can see the verbeeg, Neldak will cast Phastasmal Force on it, DC 14 INT save. He'll try to create the illusion in its mind of the slain town speaker returning for a rematch next to it.

[[ OOC: Yes, Etriel was leading, hoping to surprise. Too bad. But at least only one at a time! ]]
Etriel Darastrix realizes that this time she will not be able to have the surprise effect, but she remains unperturbed, aware of the advantage she has gained and of the protection her magic can give her.
"You are my prey, now" the foreign traveler whispers in elvish to the bear, following the declaration with a short esoteric formula. With supernatural dexterity, her hands have already drawn two of her many weapons: a Shortsword in her right hand and a Dagger in her left. She has not chosen them at random... they are the two weapons she has practiced with most recently - the weapons she is a master of.
Empowered by her own magic, the eladrin huntress makes her blades dance in a whirlwind of sharp steel and pure eldritch force...
[[ OOC: To summarize: Bonus Action: Etriel puts her Hunter's Mark on the Bear. Action: Attack vs the Bear - with both Shortword and Dagger, because her Mastery on Dagger allows her to make the extra attack of the Light property as part of the Attack action instead of as a Bonus Action ]]
Shortsword Attack: 25 Damage: 7 (piercing) + 4 (force) = 11 Thanks to Mastery: Vex (If the attack deals damage to the target, Etriel will have Advantage on her next attack roll against it before the end of her next turn)
Dagger Attack: 12 Damage: 7 (piercing) + 5 (force) = 12 Thanks to Mastery: Nick (When Etriel makes the extra attack of the Light property, she can make it as part of the Attack action instead of as a Bonus Action. This extra attack can only be made once per turn.)
Danon sees the bear charge the opening, he has his bow in hand but sees that there will be better use of his skills coming up behind Etriel. He looses the arrow at the bear, then drops his bow, moving to within 15 feet of the bear, behind Etriel. After his bow shot, he jumps up and does a roundhouse kick, flames seem to burn from his feet as he kicks at the bear. He resumes position behind Etriel, ready to strike solely with his fists and his feet.
Action : Readied Shortbow attack : 22 to hit, for 10 points of piercing damage.
Free action : drop Shortbow
Bonus action : Roundhouse kick, unarmed attack to the bear : 21 to hit, for 7 points of bludgeoning damage, from 15 feet away.
Movement : behind Etriel, 15 feet from the bear.
Chief Obould, the orc war chief, gets into position, moving up beside Etriel if there is room, attacking with his great axe - - if there is not room to attack, he will hold position behind, readying his spear.
Etriel manages to hit the bear, just catching it with her follow up dagger attack. The bear is bloodied.
Neldak can just about see the Verbeeg, Int save: 4 so takes the damage as the illusion stabs a spear at the Verbeeg.
Danon takes a shot at the bear, and then takes a large elemental empowered kick (don't forget to mark off the focus point on your sheet, and feel free to change the damage of your unarmed strike if you wish, though won't make a difference to damage taken here). The bear is now barely standing.
Chief Obould takes a swing with his greataxe, just skimming the bear, but it was enough to end the bear (who was on 2hp from Etriel and Danon alone).
Cirim can see both (Verbeeg is closer) so can pick either for the targeting
The ogre moves around this as the Verbeeg has it covered, and will attack Etriel. 20 to hit for 18 damage.
...
Etriel Darastrix is impressed by Danon's fighting style... So much grace and effectiveness... No less fascinating than the glyphs drawn in the air by the elegant blade of an elven swordmaster...
However, the Ogre seizes her moment of distraction to attack her suddenly and with unheard-of ferocity! The foreign traveler seems to have no escape: her reflexes are exceptional, her magic is protecting her as much as armor, and yet the sheer violence of the brute attacking her gives the blow a speed that...
...that suffers a sudden inexplicable halt against an invisible barrier.
[[ OOC: Etriel casts Shield as a reaction - and since she has no free hands to provide the Somatic component, she expends 1 sorcery point to use the Subtle Spell metamagic option: she casts the spell without any Verbal, Somatic, or Material components. ]]
The eladrin huntress's only reaction is a slight smile of condescension toward the brute, probably frustrated.
"Now, you are my prey" the foreign traveler tells the brute who attacked her.
[[ OOC: Shifting the mark on the Ogre with her Bonus Action ]]
Etriel Darastrix then proceeds to unleash on the new enemy the same whirlwind of sharp steel and pure eldritch force with which she had stormed the previous one!
[[ OOC: Action: Attack vs the Ogre - with both Shortword and Dagger, because her Mastery on Dagger allows her to make the extra attack of the Light property as part of the Attack action instead of as a Bonus Action. ]]

"Sounds like a fine plan" Cirim says, she will head to the tunnel with the water. "Do we want someone stealthy to go first?"
"That is wise and prudent counsel, Lady Cirim" Etriel Darastrix nods in respect; after which, she recites a short invocation to the Daughter of the Night Skies and stands stealthily a little ahead of the others.
Etriel Darastrix's 'Guided' Stealth: 13

Idalie nods along, not really paying too much attention to the planning.
"Just tell me where to stand when we start stabbing and zapping," she says.
Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
Provide feedback!
"You can go ahead of me Idalie, so I don't get in your way." Neldak motions for Idalie to go first.

On a fail it will take 9 psychic.
That's odd.

Idalie will go ahead and unleash an Eldritch Blast at the Verbeeg again. I believe it is still hexed.
Attack: 17; Damage: 9 (force) + 2 (necrotic)
Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?

It is still hexed, and that hits. And I realised I forgot to add the map.
I am quickly posting now so not updating the map for their positions, but the ogre will be on the bears spot, and the Verbeeg is not moving.
The verbeeg will try and attack the leader who has reappeared, getting frustrated that his attacks seem to miss.
The ogre moves around this as the Verbeeg has it covered, and will attack Etriel. 20 to hit for 18 damage.
Everyone is up (And Cirim, let me know who you targeted on the first round)
