Greetings noble adventurers! I've been playing AD&D for quite some time now, and thought that I would try my hand at DMing it. I am a relatively new DM, only having DMed a few short campaigns before this, so before you post a character concept, be warned: Expect mistakes. Lots of mistakes. Also, another warning, I might be a bit slow in DMing this campaign, only posting about once a day or less. Some days it could be more, sometimes it could be less. So if you expect a lot of fast paced Dungeoning and Dragoning, this might not be for you.
What is this campaign?
I am going to first be running The Temple of Elemental Evil!(Cue thunder and lightning and/or spooky laugh), an adventure for level one characters, that takes them all the way to level 8. Next, I'm going to segue into Scourge of the Slave Lords(Cue whip crack and stock scream sound effect), an adventure for level 7-8 characters that will take them all the way to 11th level, and the sequel to TToEE. Finally, I'm going to run Queen of Spiders(Cue hissing and scuttling), an adventure for higher level players that could take them all the way up to 14th level. Also, if I somehow manage to keep the group together that long(doubtful), there may be something else!
What about the campaign background?
Well, here it is!
The story begins in the Village of Hommlett, a small hamlet located at a crossroads in the central part of the Flanaess. The little village started as a couple of farms, a rest house, and a smithy, and began to swiftly grow and thrive. Its location brought many travelers and merchants to the little town, and low taxes as well as the lack of outlaws or fighting helped it to grow. However, evil eventually came. At first it was just a few thieves and bandits, then came small bands of evil humanoids raiding the flocks and herds. A small collection of hovels appeared, with a chapel established by a wicked cleric as its centerpiece. This little town of evil slowly grew, and the thickets and marshes around Nulb became the lair and hiding place for bandits, brigands, and all sorts of evil men and monsters alike. The chapel grew into a stone temple, and yet more good folk were robbed, pillaged, enslaved, and worse. In but three years, a grim and forbidding fortress surrounded the evil place, and swarms of creatures worshipped and worked their wickedness therein. Hommlet and the lands around were made into a dark and evil land, as commerce ceased, crops withered, and pestilence was abroad. However, the leaders of the Temple sought to overthrow to lands to the north, and so a great battle was fought. In the end, the servants of the Temple of Elemental Evil were defeated, and Hommlet and the lands around were delivered from the tyranny of the evil empire. The Temple had fallen in merely a fortnight, despite the help of a powerful evil, and was sealed off with a powerful magic. For five years afterward, Hommlet and its neighbors had become richer and more prosperous before, and adventurers roamed the countryside, ridding the land of the remaining evil. Eventually, it seemed that the evil had all been destroyed, and the adventurers stopped coming, and Hommlet continued its quiet existence for another four years. But then, a year before the time this adventure starts, bandits began to roam the countryside once again. This was reported to the Viscount, who spread the information throughout the countryside. This news had attracted a small band of possible adventurers to the small town of Hommlet, seeking adventure.
How should I submit my character concept?
Don't. Just post below that you are interested, and I will look through your post history and determine whether you are the sort of player that I might want in my campaign. Once I've found 6-8 players that I would like playing with, I will post to this thread, notifying everyone recruiting is closed, and I will contact the players I've chosen via PM. If you are invited, I will help develop your character by asking questions and giving suggestions, until you have a detailed and complex character that you are happy with.
I don't know how long the selection process will take, it depends on just how much interest there is in this.
Anyway, thanks for your interest, and I look forward to DMing this game!

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Unfortunately, it seems that I have not gotten enough interest to be able to do this, so unfortunately, I will not be doing this campaign. Apologies to all those who expressed interest.

I would love the opportunity to play some good old fashioned 1st Edition AD&D again. I've played the Village of Hommlet (30 years ago) but have not played the full Temple of Elemental Evil.

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Hello, am interested!
I'm interested in this.
I am interested, but I have never played any edition exept 5th I dont know if that will be a problem.
Sure, sounds fun, I’ll throw my hat in the ring.
Lot's of stuff ...
It's OK if you haven't played first before, It's pretty easy to learn(at least in my opinion).
"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Ah, 1E, I didn't see that. I'll count myself out. I have 5E characters I'm trying to test. Not 1E. Sorry.
Lot's of stuff ...
No worries.
"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."

Unfortunately, it seems that I have not gotten enough interest to be able to do this, so unfortunately, I will not be doing this campaign. Apologies to all those who expressed interest.

If you take this up again, I am up for a 1st Edition campaign. Would you be dealing with just PhB or include UA and Dragon Mag classes and races?
"ALWAYS GIVE A MONSTER AN EVEN BREAK!"
1st Edition DMG
If I bring this back up, I might integrate some stuff from UA/Dragon Magazine, but it classes and races would be PhB only.

I am interested!
I would be interested in playing in a 1e campaign
