Vajra Safahr chimes in to help Morph'sargument. "Good sir," she says. "Lord Dagult Neverember has fled the city in disgrace. He robbed Waterdeep, convincing you to protect it for him while he schemes for a way to retrieve his ill-gotten gold."

The old dwarf grimaces. "Bah," he says, then drops all pretense of being a dwarf. "I don't know you. Nor do I believe you. Dagult and I struck a deal and I honor my deals."
Titussteps forward to address Aurinax, when he does he speaks in Draconic.
"Great Aurinax, I am Titus Vorenus, First Shield, Third Legion of the Waterdavian legions. My family has served this city for generations and I server her now. It is an honor to meet you." He bows and pauses for a moment before continuing in common. "We are here primarily because the secret of Dagult Neverember has gotten out. It won't be long before you are beset upon by many parties far more sinister than we. Soon all of Waterdeep will be seeking his gold. It's imperative that we ensure the gold does not fall into the wrong hands. So much wealth would be very dangerous for the stability of the city were it to be acquired by demons who pursue it. We fear that it may no longer be safe here, even with a powerful guardian such as yourself. Please help us ensure it will not fall into the hands of these evil forces."

Aurinaxscoffs at Morph'squestion. "You didn't exactly come with foreknowledge, did you?"
Sounding somewhat offended, Golorrsays, "Well, you didn't ask the right questions."
Aurinaxcontinues. "This was the primary part of our deal."He lifts up the staff in his right hand. "It allows me to reside here in Waterdeep among other things. He also provided me with a fine pile of gems to eat. I get a horde to guard and a quiet place to reside. Well, until now, I suppose."

At Titus' words, Aurinaxfalls silent for a long time. He eventually lets out a long sigh. "My solitude has perhaps left me disconnected with the world above. You lot seem to be true in your intentions."Esvele gives a wry smile. "But the fact remains that I made a deal with Dagult Neverember."
Titus continues, both trying to buy time for Morph as he sees him concentrating, and earnestly pleading with the Dragon. He addresses him again in Draconic, “Dagult Neverember was dishonest, he embezzled this money from our great city. I know that just and mighty Gold Dragons such as yourself, who has called this city his home would not approve of such actions. I’m sure that the city would partner with you to ensure you are treated fairly. You can continue to live in Waterdeep and I’m confident gemstones can be supplied. We implore you Aurinax, Dagult’s secret is secret no more, and we must protect the city.”
"Oh, a bit late to the party, eh Myth?" Golorr says. "Aurinax summed it up nicely for you, I think. He gets to eat his fill of gemstones and keep thedragonstaff of Ahghairon in exchange for watching over Neverember's piles of gold. The staff is what allows Aurinax to reside within the city limits of Waterdeep. He is extremely pleased to possess it."
Aurinaxmakes a deep rumbling sound as he listens to Titus. (Persuasion check: 22) At last he lets out a long sigh. "I like you, dragonkin," he says at last. "But your proposal is extremely inconvenient to my promise and my good name. But...I can only fool myself for so long that I am guarding honest gold. You may return it to the city of Waterdeep. I do believe it was theirs in the first place."
Esvele interjects, "I, for one, am not letting that gold out of my sight until I know how much my reward will be. I expect every coin to be counted and I will do it myself if I have to."
The dwarf rumbles with a dragon-y chuckle. "There is 501,668 gold coins in this stash. It weighs a little over 10,000 pounds and would take...oh two weeks to count by hand. Possibly more."
Esvele softens at hearing the number. "That's good enough for me."
"I will discuss this turn of events with the treasury and we'll see about working something out with Aurinax here. Good sir dragon, do you ming watching over this pile for a little longer?"
The dwarf bows his head and says, "It will be no trouble, m'lady."
The group turns to make their way back to the stairs, ascending to the room of secrets. They ferry across the bridge, then descend to the broken mural room, where they hear voices talking in the next room (with the false doors.) Peering through the open doorway, they see 8 figures in cultist robes walking towards them. The eight stop and draw their weapons. They give no words, just vicious smiles tell the party their intentions.
