Zack approaches the wolf as it lies on the ground, watching his every move.
Animal Handling Check: 19
As Zack speaks to the wolf he gets the impression that it can’t truly understand him but recognises the tones change and the friendliness in his voice. It stays down and barely moves as Zack rests his hands on the collar. With his brute strength, Zack manages to slowly twist and turn the poorly made collar until Click! It pops open in his hand.
(OOC - This was the strongest wolf in the group, with a rolled 17HP, current HP is 7. Zack, you can have the wolf as a companion that will have the same initiative as you to keep things simple. The wolf has full movement and basic actions during combat and you can forgo your own action to command the wolf to attack. Once per day, I want you to make an AH check DC10 to make sure it is still loyal to you. 3 successes and it is loyal for life, 3 fails and it might not be so friendly)
"Urgh, thanks for helping me, Gribz. I agree with you as well. As much as I think we should rest and heal up a bit, I don't like the thought of someone being in an "eating cave." I'll try to stay back and fire from afar. At least that way, if someone goes down I'll be able to stabilise them at least."
Zack would nod to Gribz but then shake his head 'no' Look man.. I feel you... I want to save him just as much if not more than you do.. But I've seen combat real combat in small war-zones, town sized skirmisheshis expression softens a bit before adding in And I'm honestly not trying to 'say anything' but the options as they stand are a tactical, full retreat, regroup, and recover.... Or go further inside with 6-18 more Goblins who are who knows where... with our group ragged and on deaths door already.. I'd rather not risk us all being captured or killed and Sildar dying on top of it all As much as I don't want to leave him to this... we have a better chance of saving him if he survives till we get back, than he does if we all die just tryign to get there... he says, as he pats his thigh with one, commanding the wolf to follow him as he leans down to pick up Nadia in both arms, cradling her there until it was comfortable, softly trying to wake her up.
Then adding in: So look ... Lets blame me for this... I was the one who suggested we go in when our Dragon friend here had no more spells... and I honestly didn't expect this much difficulty at the entrance... I still say we fall back.. well out of sight, and behind their entrance since I FEEL they'd likely only head towards that road.... We pick up the corpses here... move them with us, they'll just assume the wolves broke free or chased after something.. most likely, hide the bodies of the wolves and recover after that.. but first thing's first.. lets get the wounded out of here and me andyou (Gribz) can come back and move the corpses after we make sure we weren't already discovered. Fair enough? If no one else disagree's and the vote is with suggestion, Zack would start moving out. if not.. well.. Zack would prepare for combat once more..
Medicine for resuscitation of Nadia: 12
((OOC - I feel retreating is our best bet. Right now almost everyone here can die in a single, lucky attack. Or .. in some sort of trap, or environmental thing. And this Dm is actually challenging .. which I'm loving... I haven't had a DM make me TRULY think about my actions and their ramifications since I started playing DND.. this DM is pushing us to our limits with GOOD combat.))
Lilith twiddles with her thumbs a bit, looking around nervously. "I guess you're right... I mean the horses have been there for a while... one day wouldn't make a difference... hopefully."
Blighttree looks around him at the dead worg, the two dead wolves and his injured allies before looking up stream at the large cave.
”This is not what I signed up for. I was told I’d get 10 gold pieces for delivering a wagon. I honestly think that you guys have what it takes but I think that this is all too much for me. Take these 4 berries I have left and eat them when things are looking bad. They should last until early tomorrow morning. I will return to the cart and keep an eye on the oxen. The last thing we want is someone coming along and stealing the supplies and the cart. I will keep it covered in the trees and wait for you to make your way on to the road. Good luck my friends and may the forests protect you”
(OOC - I’ve had nothing back from Widowleaf again and so for now the party will be dropping down to 5 characters. I may be able to get a 6th to join within the next couple of days)
Gribz will say "You're right Zack. I've never had to make these kind of hard decisions before; possibly sacrificing one so that more may live... I'm just not used it. Let's get out of here and rest up." With a sigh and a forlorn look toward the Goblin cave, Gribz will think to himself (Sorry man, hang in there! We'll be back as soon as we're rested!) Gribz will take a Goodberry from Blighttree and thank him for saving his life. "Who knows, maybe one day you'll find yourself the protagonist of a play by our travelling theatre. Take care." Gribz will also make a point to gather the gear of one of the dead Goblins just in case he needs to pretend to be one of them at some point. He'll then help the others retreat and make camp.
(OOC: As for the Goblin gear, I'm just calling it a "Goblin Outfit" if that works for you.)
Nadia hadn’t expected to go down so easily, the elf having underestimated the power of the worg and of her past injuries. As she drifted to and fro from consciousness she saw small bits of what her surviving party had been doin; Chad casting a spell (or two?) and running for the others, Zack coming face to face with the beast, Gribz using the opportunity to try and get her back up. She was semi-conscious at that point, lolling her head and slurring some words that was a means as a thank you to the goblin, but she could barely move. She felt so very tired... (What if I close my eyes for just a bit longer...)
Her eyes fluttered back open at the feeling of being picked up from the ground, her vision still blurry, barely making out the figures features due to this... White light emitting from behind them.
“Wow, eres guapo ¿Eres un ángel? ¿Estoy en el cielo?” She manages to mumble out, trying to focus her eyes on... Zack. “Oh.” The ranger takes a moment to look around. “Cojones,” She pauses, realizing how comfortable she was in his arms and says “Esto esta bien.” And says nothing else as she waves her arm weakly to indicate she was indeed alive and was fine with whatever they had decided upon was fine with her!
(Ooc - posting from work, translation from undercommon: “Wow, you’re handsome. Are you an angel? I’m in heaven?” And “Balls... This is fine.”)

Chad, nearly dead and clearly annoyed with Zach at the moment glares at him. "You no longer make decisions for me. I hope the rest do not follow you into the depths of the nine hells over some ******* soldiers glory."Chad gives Zack the finger and starts to leave the cage. "I need rest. Feel free to join me."Chad leaves the cave. He is clearly injured, exhausted and pissed. Chad will leave the cave and start looking in a direction that seems like the high ground to watch over the cave entrance.
As Chad steps out of the cave, his vision already adjusted to the light from the small amount of sun coming through the cave mouth, he looks around and sees two sections of the mountain that he considers climbable.
(OOC - I've coloured the two sections of the map in green that are both 10 ft above the floor. Let me know where people wish to stay to rest, who wants to do lookout, If anyone wants to stay in the forest and if anyone is climbing then I'll have an Athletics or Acrobatics check from them people)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Zack
Zack can only laugh at Chads reaction as he begins to make his way out. Responding to Chads retort with one of his own, which was mildly out of his personality, however.. in this case he felt the need to...
You do you dude. But as far as I can tell you're a mage.... or some sort of caster.. and you engaged with a melee attack right off the bat.... then, standing directly in range of the wolves began casting spells... and missed every single one I saw.. I don't recall rangers getting into melee on purpose with their bows out... You need to stay in the back where you belong... Behind me.
While the last part was meant to be advice.. it could easily be misconstrued as something else. Regardless, Carrying Nadia for now, with the Wolf in tow behind him at heel, Zack begins to make his way in what he felt was the safer Direction, heading to B-3 to make his way up from the ground, so that their bodies would be hidden by the canopies of the conifers. Once there... Zack would attempt the climb, with Nadia in hand.. before setting his sword down, tip-first into the dirt, and shifting her to his back, as he attempts to make the climb himself (Athletics: 18)
Apparently easily making it up, and going up till he found a secure enough, and flat enough spot that she didn't risk rolling over, before sliding back down to where the wolf was, and calling it to heel again. Waiting for the others, especially Gribz before heading back towards the tunnel mouth to enact the second half of this soiree....
(ooc - if gribz doesn't come 'this' way, zack will eventually go anyway)
Zack picks up his sword at some point, heading back, attempting to remain quiet as he approaches the tunnel entrance.. trying to keep an eye out for anymore goblins.. or even other wolves...
Feeling the tension between the Zack and Chad Gribz will say "Alright, you two this pissing match is done." And he'll look to each of them with stern finality in his eyes. "I understand we have some big personalities on our little team..." And he'll eye Zack "...but we need to work together right now. Cursing one another and flipping the bird is not helping..." As he looks at Chad. "Sildar's life is depending on us working together. Hell, my life depends on it. So let's squash this and swallow our pride for now. You guys can duke it out once everyone's safe and sound." And Gribz will then scale the cliff to his resting spot.
