Talien turns back to Alten, What else do we have to do after the other tasks are completed? Would you aid me in finding the hammer Alten? He looks around to everyone in the group to see if they will also join him if it is not found on this trip, I will find the hammer, I told Rurik I would, alone if I must...
I don't know what happens next. Finding the hammer is something you agreed to do, not something we all agreed on. That's on you. That makes is it your responsibilty in addition to the responsibility you have to complete Bozack's job.
Finding a hammer is not my first priority. If I can help you find it without compromising the completion of Bozack's job and I don't have other pressing business, then I probably will.
But it may be moot. We might die down in the hole and then it doesn't matter, does it?

Nodding down towards the trail of blood leading to the shaft.
Humans have an expression "don't count your chickens before the hatch."
Earlier, you asked what do we have to do after this job? Go our separate ways, unless Bozack has another immediate job for us that people want to take, I guess.
To the rest of the group
Are we going down and worrying about getting up again later or do we want to go back and get a ladder and more supplies?

I understand responsibility Alten, I was just asking for your assistance. With that said Talien's eyes turn red and he moves over to the edge and looks down following the blood trail. He tosses one end of his role over and says. Climb down while I hold the rope. I will jump down leaving no rope behind. Apparently someone or something can climb these walls, we should be able to climb back up too.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Did Talien just toss one end of the rope down the shaft and stands there holding the other end in his hands? Alten will inspect the shaft and the area around it. How far down is the hole and what's the situation for climbing down? Any anchor points, handholds, etc? As Talien just noted, something climbed up and down.
14 (+1 if perception, -1 if investigation)

The strange vines creep up and over the sides of the shaft. Some of the vines are thin and spidery, while others are thicker than rope. You surmise that is what the hobgoblins use to scale the shaft. You can’t see the bottom of the shaft however as your dark vision only extends 60’. The shaft is longer than that, but you’re not sure by how many feet.
Talien, I think those vines appear to be thicker and stronger than your rope. I don't think you'll need to stand there holding a rope while folks climb.
But it's a good ways down. I can't see the bottom. Even in the dark, I know I can see at least 60 feet. It might not hurt to daisy chain ourselves together. That way if one person slips during the climb, the rest can share the burden of the weight among the group.

Talien wordlessly ties the rope around himself and Alten. He moves over to the edge and makes sure his gear is secure and begins to descend on the vines. As he descends he yells to Meepo. You will survive Meepo. Be strong. Follow my lead.
"Arxius is a great climber, Meepo. Stick by her and you'll be fine." Rees gives Arxius a look because she's not the greatest climber and basically just hopes she doesn't fall and die.
Whoa, whoa, whoa big guy. We've got to hook multiple people together - 3 or 4. If it is just the two of us and you fall, odds are we both fall if we are the only ones conected. However, if you and I are also connected to Grom and Arxius, then 3 of us bear the weight of the one who falls.
But if you're in a hurry, go on down by yourself without being tied to the rest.
Selfishly, Rees wants to be with Arxius because she knows that Arxius is a good climber. However, she'll go wherever they decide because it's weird that Alten keeps deferring to her and she does NOT want to be in charge.
Statistically for the PCs Talien (+5 athletics) is the best. Alten and Arxis at +3. Grom at +1. Rees and Trick at 0. I assume Corky is a +something and Meepo is probably a negative.
Depending on how strong Corkie is, it may or may not make sense to switch her and Ariux, but I think we need to keep the best (Talien) with the worst (Meepo probably).
Grom opens his spell book and starts reading... chuckles to himself and then steps up on the ledge of the well "Does everyone trust me...." he will hold his hand out towards rees and talien
