When Karib backs up, Rogram moves in front of the human, his shield and sword still at the ready. "We're not looking for trouble," he shouts. "Just answers."
Karib's gaze flickers to the nodding kobold in a mixture of anger and amusement then he turns back to the Roper, "We offer you these slightly cooked bodies, if you like. Or of you prefer fresh food..." He pauses to looks again at the kobold, a malicious smile on his face, "...if you prefer fresh food...well, then there are some eggs lying around hereabouts. You'd be welcome to those."
"And, we can provide more food, if you don't care about freshness." Yevele adds, keeping a grip on her bow, but, not showing any aggression toward the roper.
The roper growls, more of a roar that causes bits of debris to fall from the ceiling into the pit beneath the creature. "ThE sMall onEs bRinG mE foOd! I eAt tHem oNCe. ThEn tHey wiLL nOt gIve foOd aNymOrE!"
"YoU arE nOt unDeRsTAndiNg mE," the roper growls, dust and pebbles falling from the ceiling with each syllable. "ThE onES wHo brOUgHt mE foOD yOu haVe kilLeD. I wiLL eaT tHeM, anD hAvE nO mOrE tO bRinG mE foOD! I wiLL eAt thEm, aNd tHEn tHey wiLL bE gOne!"
Karib nods, "And you can keep this one." He points at their prisoner, "So long as you keep them in line, they can still bring food. We will be leaving when we have finished what we came to do."
"HMmmMm," the creature contemplates before growling again. "YoU tHinK mE siMplE? If yOu caNnOt pRoVidE fOod fOr a lOnG tiME, liKE tHe smAll oNeS haVe, tHeN yOu wiLL bE eaTeN. YoU wiLL bE qUitE fResH."
The ropers tentacles dangle menacingly around each of you as it speaks, encircling the party and putting themselves between you and the exit.
"Careful," Rogram says, a little playfully, but mostly wary, "our teeth are sharp." He extends his sword to let the tip press into one of the tentacles just enough to get his point across.
Taking a few steps back Smoke calls out to the creature. Wait wait..
If you eat us you wont have much to eat either, But out there Smoke points in the direction they came from There are more bodies, we can show you. Not just in the next room but many places..
He takes a more few steps back untill his back is against the wall. We will put up a fight, but they wont. The bodies are just laying around out there, and hanging around yes. This army has a foodstorage! If it can feed an army surely one such as you will eat for a very long time.
If you manage to eat us, like you say the food will soon be gone. Surely you are a wise one being so big.
Smoke grips his daggers a bit firmly waiting the creatures response.
The room begins to rumble, and the roper's tentacles raise at Rogram's playful threat, but the mention of food storage seems to give the creature pause.
"HmMmm...bRinG mE sOme oF thiS fooD. We wiLL sEe iF iT iS aS yoU sAy..." it declares.
Karib follows, then stares back at room and whispers his response. "I think some food to establish trust, then we should leave with our prisoners. If we are gone too long, I expect it will come looking for us. After eating it may relax."
Yevele will join the other members of the party outside the room "Should we leave here without destroying the eggs? I don't think the roper is going to stop us from breaking them if we bring some bodies back."
OOC: I'll include a map of the entire area you've explored in the hatchery thus far, along with your current position:
Area Description:
This chamber has been enlarged and reshaped from its original form. The floor and three of the walls are smooth, and stalactites and stalagmites have been polished into gleaming columns. Every surface glistens with moisture, and the air is warm and humid. The flat walls of the chamber are decorated with shallow abstract carvings of dragons. Dragons’ tails coil into intricate patterns and knots that flow across the walls. The creature portrayed in the northwest corner stands out: a five-headed dragon, rising from an erupting volcano. Other dragons, which seem dwarfed by the five-headed monstrosity, flock to its side. A small, wooden chest with silver and mother-of-pearl inlays sits open on the floor in the corner, in front of the monstrous dragon carving.
A winding stairway leads upward out of the room, and another passage departs the chamber to the southwest. The wide opening behind you leads back into the vast chamber with the roper.
When Karib backs up, Rogram moves in front of the human, his shield and sword still at the ready. "We're not looking for trouble," he shouts. "Just answers."
"ThE smAlL oNes gAvE foOd," the creature muses. "NoW yOu haVe slaiN tHeM. WilL I eAt yoU tHeN?"
The remaining kobold nods exuberantly.

"EgGs!?" the roper gnashes his stony teeth. "MeaT," it declares. It rotates to peer at Yevele. "WhEre?"

Karib frowns, "Not eggs then. Those bodies not good enough?" he asks, pointing at the ones he previously mentioned. "Freshly killed."

"There are some bigger bodies back the way we came. Dead less than 24 hours. We can bring them here for you." Yevele says.

"They're already dead," Rogram says, furrowing his brow. "You might as well eat them."
Karib nods, "And you can keep this one." He points at their prisoner, "So long as you keep them in line, they can still bring food. We will be leaving when we have finished what we came to do."

Smoke will is unsure if he should relax a bit as the tentacles move up again. Bring you some.. uhm yes He looks to his companions a moment.
We will go and get some now. He moves slowly at first but picks up his step as he walks towards the room they came from.
Once they are all outside (in the next room) he will ask the others Should we get some food for it or just move on and not go back there?
(( @DM: Have we explored the area fully now? ))

"Yes," Rogram says, not very quietly, "let's leave. The longer we delay, the further away they are taking my father!"
