While Krom interacts the small creature, Olie was about to sniff it, and Kazri stopped him. In a low voice, she asks the Owlbear determine where the Drows may have gone. (The pair looks for signs of the Drow.)

By the time Krom has looked over to Rhogar, said dragonborn still seemed to be processing the sight, what with him opening and closing his mouth several times without a word. "Given how Chill's companion came to be I would not put it past them. More importantly, I doubt it would've been tasked with moving books around without some prompting from others. Mayhaps it would be best to follow it for just a bit before carrying on our own way? At least until we find something of more significance, be it the drow, a directory, or even... the spirit of a researcher yet clinging to these very halls~ Ohh~" Rhogar couldn't help but chuckle after the jest. But any second take at the dragonborn's demeanor gives a genuine desire to follow through on the suggestion. At least until the others have step up with a better idea,

"Uh... hello." The large penguin says quietly in a hushed tone. "Follow me around you say? Can you help me instead? My master, as crooked and evil as he is, had been accosted by some others. I would prefer to be free of my master but I cannot leave this plane of existence without him. Can you help?"
Krom, taken aback by the fact that the penguin speaks, stays silent for a long moment. As soon as he recomposes himself, the dwarf asks in a low tone of voice. "I see, would you mind telling us a bit more about your master and why he has been accosted by this other group? If my assumption is correct, they are a trio of drow."
With Kazri and Krom taking the lead Chill took the rear guard and kept a watch for anything coming up behind them. He watched as the others interacted with what looked like a large penguin. How very odd. But the others looked to have the situation under control so he kept watching the back.

"Scrivenscry is his name." the penguin answers. "He is an arcanaloth and he is very dangerous. We found this library and he seeks a very special book. He promised me a life of enlightenment. The truth is I am nothing more than a lackey, I live in fear of his cruel, unpredictable actions. I hope to be free of him, but I also cannot leave this plane without him. He has a scroll to leave this place but I cannot use it."
He looks over a his shoulder nervously and then continues in a quick, hushed tone.
"Three... drow? came in. They have threatened Scrivenscry and now they are in one of the back study rooms. I was sent to find books he may want while he talks with them."
"Interesting, we see no signs of the Drow." She turns to creature, and kneels to be closer to its height. "Do you speak true little one?" Oli comes to smell the creature, and Kazri keeps him at bay for now.

"Science is organized knowledge. Wisdom is organized life."
"An arcanaloth? What kind of creature is that? Judging by how this penguin speaks about it, I guess a fiend of some sort." Krom says to the rest of the group. "If those drow can pose a threat to an extra-planar being, they may be more dangerous than we initially thought." The dwarf continues, "I wonder what they want from him."
Rhogar went from shocked into silence hearing the "penguin speak to half lost in thought searching his memories for any tale or lesson from Brother Vixix that involved such creatures. But as he stood there rubbing his chin and softly "hmm" on occasion in thought, he froze for a second, then narrowed his eyes at the penguin. "A 'loth?"He questioned, only to turn his head away a second later, eyes darting about in his skull as if searching or reading something. But then with a grimace, he sharply utters a word of power and gestures, focusing himself just that much further.
(A likely long shot, but above roll is for trying to figure if knows anything about the blind penguin. The below is for figuring out what he knows about Arcanaloths. If nature would be appropriate for the above, subtract 4 from the roll)
If he knows anything about arcanaloth's he relays as much to the party, though in hushed tones of his own in remembering the penguin's own wariness moments before. "Some form knowledge, clearly, if not a forced alliance. Either which way, it seems things might get a fair bit more complicated dealing with them."Rhogar grudgingly admitted to Krom, then looked over to the penguin. "If we are to assist you, then we need to know more as well. Such as if you overheard anything from the Drow, and this 'book' your master is after. That is, if you are liberty to speak on either."
Rhogar considers the nature of the giant penguin. This would not be the first beast that you have encountered that can now talk. The others had been affected by an Awaken spell.
As for the Arcanaloth
Rhogar:
Arcanaloths are sly, jackal-headed beings with humanoid bodies, but they can employ magic to take any humanoid form. They do so to gain the trust of creatures with whom they negotiate, replacing jackal snarls with winsome smiles.
Regardless of its chosen form, an arcanaloth appears well groomed, clothing itself in fine robes. Highly intelligent spellcasters who hunger for knowledge and power, arcanaloths command units of lesser yugoloths and maintain the contracts, records, and accounts of their kind.
Arcanaloths speak and write all languages, making them cunning diplomats and negotiators. An arcanaloth properly paid can broker treaties or alliances with subtlety and finesse, just as an arcanaloth who changes sides can easily turn the best-laid peace talks into all-out war. What the fiend demands in exchange for its time and talent is information, as well as powerful magic items that it can trade for even more information.
"I didn't hear much from the drow." the penguin answered. "Scrivenscry sent me away so I don't know. But he is very smart and can talk himself out of trouble. He's in search of the Books of Keeping, four lost tomes that hold the true names of every yugoloth ever created. We stumbled on this library by chance and he is convinced that at least one of the legendary tomes is hidden here."
"Have you found it yet? You carry a lot of books on your back." Krom asks the penguin. "If we can manage to locate it before the drow, we could negotiate from a position of strength and counter any deals he might have already considered making with them." The dwarf adds turning towards his companions.
The penguin nods his head. "My name is Kingsport."
He then continues to answer questions.
"I do not know the name of the book or what it looks like. I find books that might meet the vague description I have and Scrivenscry looks at them. The books would be quite large, that is all I know. So I look for large books."
Kazri is not quite sure what is happening, but she senses that there is a greater danger than just a few Drows now. She tries to help as best as she can. She gets closer to the penguin, and extend her hands. "Perhaps I may help lighten your load? I could carry those book for you, if that would be acceptable."

"Hmn. Makes since." Rhogar admitted, albeit with a touch of reluctance in his voice. "And a fine offer to make, L-... Kazri. Or perhaps better yet, Kingsport, if you are not immediately expected, mind if I take a look at what you have so far? Or even better yet, have-..."There's a moment's hesitation from the dragonborn before he eventually asks of the penguin ,"This may sound rather gouche to ask, but you are a, uhm... have you ever met a druid or someone that professed themselves as a follower of the Frostmaiden, Auril, by any chance? Just, eh... curious is all."
Kingsport looks back at the small cart laden with books that he has been pulling. "I guess you could push the cart if you wanted, but it isn't hard at all." answers Kingsport.
"Frostmaiden, Auril? Never heard of them. Is that a ruler or god of this plane? We arrived just yesterday from another plane. I have never met anyone from this plane before." Kingsport says. "These books are ones that Scrivenscry says have value, but are not the books he hopes to find. You can look at them if you want."
You have time to thumb through them. They appear to all be treatises on the Outer Planes.
"This place has hundreds of books. How are you supposed to find the right one with only a vague description? It's an almost impossible task." Krom says to Kingsport, scratching his chin thoughtfully. The dwarf turns to the others and lowering his voice says. "How do we proceed from here? Kingsport's master won't wait for long. Do we risk confronting him without any leverage, or do we search for that large book?"
"Not ruler, no, though I'm certain fancy's becoming such, if not merely claiming Icewind Dales in full as her domain. Despite what most locals would prefer." Rhogar explained, though with a bit of a growl behind his words towards the end. In his agitated state, the dragonborn proceeded to snatch a book to quickly thumb through, only to slowly lose his edge in the act.
"... If Chip were here, I'm almost certain he would've suggested a bit of duplicity in place of actual leverage. Unfortunately, with maphaps the exception of Chill here, such a tactic is not exactly our strongest suit. But it is certainly an option. These books lack a certain 'aura' that I would expect from so legendary a tome, but their contents do show some promise. Perhaps enough to look convincing?"Rhogar suggested to the group. "If Kingsport can but direct us to where he found these books in particular, I'd then suggest leave him to his 'work' and take the opportunity to try and find the book. If he cannot, however, then a more direct approach would be in order."
