"Hmm..." Joshua ponders for a moment. "If these cultists have already allied with the dragon we may face them both if the cultists have a way of contacting it if things are not going their way. I wonder if the same would hold true the other way?"
(How much would Joshua know about dragons from his time at the academy. I assume there would be some study of them. History: 16)
He believes that it would be very possible that they could ally, especially if the Dragon were in the power position. He doesn't believe that a Green Dragon would ever put itself in a subservient position or at least there'd have to be something definitely value to it to do so. Whether its happened yet would be undetermined but he can see why Reidoth would be very concerned for the people of Phandalin.
“Is there time to investigate the cultists, or whatever they are, now? If not, then Let’s set out early in the morning and get to the bottom of it. Is it safe to rest here? I will stand watch part of the night.”
Reidoth nods, "Yes, please. Take your rest here for the night. I don't have appropriate accommodations but you are welcome to lay out your bedrolls. It will be safe." He responds to Velshir then clears some additional space about the room. He will sleep during Velshir's watch then arise to watch should they need eyes for the remainder.
(It is now well past the middle of the night. Feel free to process a Long Rest)
Before she goes to sleep, Brencharis turns towards Reidoth and quietly says "Did you happen to see what shade the dragon's scales were? I know the lighter they are, the older they are. Anything you might remember along those lines would be much appreciated. Also scarves or some other form of facial covering would be useful to potentially decrease the effects the dragon's breath has on us." She takes a cup of soup and starts sipping at it while she sets up her bedroll.
Prentiss curls up in his blanket, happy to have some time to recharge and ponder the quest ahead of them. He feels no love for dragons, but cannot deny a certain...affinity. He knows he would fight one to protect others, but the very thought terrifies him. He drifts off to sleep and dreams of fangs, fire and ice.
Reidoth approaches closer to Brencharis as the the group settles in. "They aren't particularly stylish but I can clean what cloths I have here for you. That's a good idea." He points a finger up in the air as he says this and spins a little about the room looking for fabrics that might suit their needs, "Ah yes, that there, oh and this one" and presents an assortment of odd shaped cloths running his hands over them as he does so relieving them of old scents and dust. "These should do." He settles himself back into his seat and sits quietly a moment. Suddenly speaking again as if he'd forgotten her other question. "Oh, yes. The Dragon. Darks scales I think. He or she tends to fly at night to do its hunting, but dark I think. Smaller than I expected too, though large enough." The others drift off to sleep and sleep peacefully though a little uncomfortable on the hard floor.
Reidoth stays up to watch after Velshir's watch then awakens Prentiss nearer to dawn. "A few more hours of rest I think for the group, but I grow too sleepy. I turn the final watch over to you?" He suggests, eyes visibly drooping. "Its been quiet." The soup is gone from the pot and removed from its position near the fire, he pokes at the fire lightly adding smaller pieces of wood. "I have to keep it low to keep anyone from seeing the smoke, but the wood is dry and should suit at this level." He waves his hand at the fire indicating why he doesn't build it up and moves to the corner laying down on his own bedroll robe tucked tight around him and falls asleep nearly immediately.

Prentiss thanks Reidoth for waking him, and the survival advice. The young man realises that he has led a relatively sheltered life in terms of skills, despite the trauma and upheaval. He can light a fire but knows practically nothing of how to do so safely in a hostile land.
He takes his watch and looks over the group, waking (randomly selected) Kallen for a turn when a couple of hours have passed.
Velshir is ready to get an early start to the new day. After a quick breakfast, he's eager to head out, with Reidoth acting as a guide, to investigate the mysterious masked folk. And perhaps point out the dragon's whereabouts from a safe distance.
Brencharis takes the offered scarves and goes to sleep soon after. When everyone is up, she'll offer to help them tie the scarves around their mouths so if they do end up fighting the dragon, they have some form of protection against the poisonous breath. "I think if it comes to it, we might be able to take on the dragon, as it's rather young still. It's still gonna be dangerous because it's still a dragon, but I don't think it'll instantly kill us all before we can react." She'll go with Velshir to investigate the mysterious masked men. (Brencharis swapped brewer's tools proficiency for Nature proficiency.)
(Noted for Brencharis to switch proficiencies - makes sense as brewer's tools are bulky - if anyone else would like to make any quick adjustments to spells or Tool Proficiencies, I can allow - you should all be healed from the Long Rest)
Brencharis assists to fit the group with various shapes and sizes of colored cloth to form masks for each. Should the need arise, I'll allow for advantage on any saving throws for any potentially inhaled substances provided mention made of mask use.
Reidoth rises as the fire dwindles and the sun rises outside. You all sleep a little into the morning to benefit from the full rest and the old man gathers up some supplies and opens the door carefully peering out. "I don't do much fighting in my old age but I can shape into many helpful creatures should the need arise, but I'll generally leave that up to you. Watch that building to the south of here, it's fairly overrun with Twig Blights unless you'd like to get some morning exercise in. They've been pestering me for months now." He steps out slowly into the open and stands aside as you all exit the secure building and latches it up again.
"If we head North a bit then East the path will split leading North up the hill to the Tower there (in the daylight you can see a ruined tower high on a hill just to the North East) or further East and South are the masked ones I spoke up. There are other structures in the Eastern half of Thundertree I haven't explored. It is just me you see." He says as something of an explanation. "I do know there are more of the Zombies, the Blights of course, and I suspect Spiders as there are webs about."
(I plan to play Reidoth a little low key, he's likely been through more but can't give everything away) You are all presently at the Red X - which way do you go?
"I say we head south to check out these masked people. If they are indeed up to no good we can deal with them before engaging the dragon." Joshua looks back to the group waiting to see what everyones opinion is.
Brencharis’s subclass is Phantom, which gives her a bonus tool or skill proficiency she can swap after a short or long rest. I had brewer’s tools as the proficiency, and I thought nature would be more useful, so I swapped it.
CalPol jumps up out of his bedroll shouting and immediately destroying an old warped coat rack in the corner to complete splinters with his new shiny magic axe. Soaked in sweat and disoriented by his unfamiliar surroundings, the party realizes quickly that he must have had a horrific nightmare and is standing looking slightly confused at the group. Although Prentiss felt the wind of the slash pass close to an ear as all danger from the coat rack was prevented, it was a narrow miss.
Joshua startled by the yell and sudden movement turns quickly and a small mote of flame appears in his hand but is quickly extinguished when he sees the coat rack in pieces. "What in the name of Mystra was that Cal? Prentiss are you ok?
"I believe our friend here is experiencing at bad dream here Joshua!" Kallen shouted at the back corner of the room away from the brute paladin. "Hey Idiot, didn't your training ever taught you to never sleep with your weapons besides you? You almost decapitated Prentiss here, if this nightmare persist..." Kallen pause for a moment trying to think a better sentences to reply to the paladin. "If this ever persist we might have to tie you up, considering that I'm a newer member here and we're doing a job, it's best tell to tell us your problems and we will try our best to solve that problem."
She looks at the group and wanted to checked out the masked cultist and adding a few stuff before they leave. "Can we like sneak towards them and learn their motive first? I have a spell for that to blend in with them and learn more of their motive! but i need to see their outfit first before i can do that stuff"
Prentiss leaps back from Cal's waking attack: "What the hells, Cal??"
The sorcerer's eyes flare bright blue, ice forming at the corners of his mouth, before he checks himself and fights down his rage. With a very thin veneer of calm, he says "It's OK, we're not ourselves in dreams. But Kallen is right, maybe your blades out of arm's reach until you have them under control?"
Taking a scarf with thanks, he ties it around his face, checking that it can be pulled down easily if needed. "Good idea Kallen, if you can get in among them and learn some details; numbers, motives, skills and weapons"

"Hmm..." Joshua ponders for a moment. "If these cultists have already allied with the dragon we may face them both if the cultists have a way of contacting it if things are not going their way. I wonder if the same would hold true the other way?"

Velshir accepts the cloth mask without so much as a ‘thank you’ and dons it. Any direction is fine with him, even doing some morning “gardening”.
"ARRRRGGGGGGGGHHHGHHGGHH!!!!" Shouts Cal Pol as he wakes from his living nightmares.
He lashes out at what ever is behind him, friend foe or inanimate object
