I'm currently playing a duergar circle of spores druid. Even through we just got to level 3, it's pretty fun so far. Flavouring spells and attacks to incorporate the spores is quite a lot of fun.
I am currently playing a Moon healer in 2024, I loved being able to shift to a fast from, get an injured ally and heal them while still doing damage with CA and buffing myself.
I like the character as a wandering vet with medicine and handle animal to be able to fix up animals with the party as a secondary concern.
Way to make a poll asking what circle people use and ignore the most common one and the new 2024 one. I play Circle of the sea because of the spell selection and wrath of the sea feature.

Let's see. I have a lev 3 forest gnome stars druid with the 2024 sage background. Free guidance (stars), starry wisp (primal order), light and toll the dead (sage), and minor illuision (gnome) and free uses of guiding bolt, shield (sage), speak with animals (gnome). Always prepared: guiding bolt, speak with animals, shield. I hear you (about a set additional list) but it looks good to me. :)
Circle of the Earth because in the 2024, you have access to a few different spells depending on the land type you choose (you can change it after a long rest).
I currently play a Moon Druid, mostly because I didn't know when I made them that there were options beyond Land and Moon and because I love the character so much I would never change them.
They have +2 STR, DEX, and CON, so they're really solid in both melee and ranged weapon-fighting. Plus they are a wood elf, making them even better at that because they can use longswords and longbows. Not to mention they can just Wild Shape to fight even better. Additionally, they're a Sage with +2 INT and have 1 level as a Knowledge Cleric. And they know Guidance for ability check boosts. They are very strong and very smart and very wise (+3 WIS).
Most fun part: They have abysmal Charisma! So, they are an incredible specimen of elvenkind but have no people skills whatsoever. Excellent to roleplay

lol I did sell tho
Moon is really cool. The BA wildshape is a huge benefit.
I second that and it's because you get way more functionality or of your wild shape.
Stars is great (Blaster, Controller, Healer). The starry forms and free guiding bolts are useful.
Food, Scifi/fantasy, anime, DND 5E and OSR geek.
The only problem is the lack of always prepared spells is rough.
