So im a Mutation Druid in a Grimhollow campaign and I recently got Level 6. I can now Wildshape into Cr 2 creatures so I turn into an Allosaurus. The 2024 Allosaurus got a huge Buff so I was asking myself if I did the correct Math and thinking here.
Now Imagine im Wildshaping and im adding some Mutations to my Allosaueus Form.Lets throw the Enlarge,Multiattack and Poison Mutation in.
You run 30+ feet towards an enemy and hit them with your Claw Attack thats 1d8 +4 +2(because of your unnatural Attacks) +1D4 (From Enlarge). Then your allowed to make an extra bite attack from the Claw Attack with advantage because the enemy has now the Prone Conditoon. Thats 2D10 +4 + 2 +1D4. Then your allowed from your Multiattack Mutation to make an Extra Bite Attack with advantage (Because the enemy is Prone) because the first Bite Attack is part of the Claw Attack. Thats another 2D10 +4 +2 + 1D4 + 2D6 poison from the Posion Mutation.
When you hit all your attacks its gonna be 4D10 +1D8 +3D4 +2D6 +18. Thats an average damage of 59 at Level 6.
Minimum would be 28
Maximum would be 90
Posion is quite the common resistance but I mean maybe the player has a lucky encounter against a monster that isnt resistant.
I hope I did the right math and ruling in this Situation but if im right.
Thats quite the hefty possible damage output a player can do at Level 6 isnt it?
So i am not familiar with the extra damage from unnatural attacks.
Keep in mind you have spent 9 mutation points for this.
6 for Multiattack, 1 for Enlarge and 2 for Poison.
That's 3 3rd level spells.
Plus you have to spend 3 rounds getting it set up. Since you can sac one spell per bonus action.
Your accuracy in the form is going to be 1 or more lower compared the other players and your accuracy on that bonus bite attack is dependent first in landing the claw and landing the bite. If you assume a base 60% accuracy you are at 55% to landing the first claw and about 44% chance of landing the bonus bite. That will play a large role in your DPR.
After that your about 23 DPR unless you can charge again.
Furthermore as soon as you leave Wild Shape those benefits are lost. Since the 2024 rules incentives multiple wild shapes this is a massive cost.
May I ask how you are at 9 points? As per Grim Hollow 2024 Player Guide. Multiattack only costs 2 Points, Enlarge 2 Points and Poison 2 Points.Thats still 6 points so potentiolly 2 Level 3 spellslots. But through your "Unnatural and Unnerving" at level 6 each time you use a 2+ spellslot for mutationpoints you regain a Spellslot which is one Level lower of which you sacrificed so there is a bit of Recycling.
Also I have to correct myself. Its is Predators Strike that adds the +2 to the damage not the Unnatural attacks.
May I also ask why the Accuracy of my attacks are below average? The allosaurus in the 2024 Rules has a +6 to hit.Isnt that Average for a normal Level 6 character?
You are definietly right though that this will take a bit of a setup.I didnt really think about that I atleast need 2 rounds of combat for that.
Alright thank you very much! I still think the Mutation Druid is quite the good subclass especially cuz there is only the moondruid as option for a more Wildshape heavy druid.

Oh I had not seen the 2024 update so was looking at old rules.
So a 6th level character will have a Prof Bonus of +3 and a likely stat of 18 given them a total bonus of +7 assuming no magic items.
As of now no magic items really interact with Wild Shape attacks so it's hard to increase the accuracy without DM rulings.
