I have a quick question and maybe I am just missing it. But early in the adventure there is a frost giant Lodge you can save two kids from. It says the winter wolves guard area L1 and that the cage is in L3. It says you are safe if you avoid L5 but you still have to deal with the wolves. However it also says L8 is an optional escape path. How do you get there without alerting the wolves is my question. L3 is closed off to everything but L1 right? Or did I miss something?
With Silja and Finn in tow, the characters can try to sneak out of the lodge. As long as they keep quiet and avoid the central chamber (area L5), they won’t incur the wrath of the awakened mammoth. However, they must also deal with the two winter wolves lurking outside. The remorhaz tunnel in area L8 provides an alternate escape route, since the wolves aren’t watching that exit.
Yeah, that reads oddly since there really is no alternative way to L8, unless they find the exit outside of the lodge when it comes to the interior.
I'd look at the text as an FYI if the players get deeper into the lodge here is an alternative way to get out. The avoiding L5 or not still does not prevent the players from using the L8 exit. The mention I guess is more to say you'll draw less attention by finding some means voiding entering L5 through stealth or some other means of 'teleportation'. Heck, you could possibly Misty Step through L5 from L4 or L12 and be in the opposite hallway. Just focus on the escape through L8 and not so much how the players get there.
I have a non-related question regarding Beldora, as referenced in the optional 'Spy' player secret. I saw no reference to her anywhere else in the adventure, and after searching on this site I saw she appeared to be an important NPC for the Storm Kings Thunder campaign, which I don't own. Time and money are a bit of a constraint, and I'd rather not buy that source book just to get her back story. I'm also not very familiar with Forgotten Realms lore, or the various factions such as the Harpers, and it's a little unclear on the best place to catch up on what they're all about. Should I just leave that card out?

DocSun gave you a nice synopsis of Beldora that more likely will answer your questions but if not my take away is that Beldora is just an NPC who is a spy contact that you can make up how she operates in Ten-Towns and do not need to get into Storm Kings for fear of missing out something important. WotC crossover NPC in their published adventures but each one is a stand-alone and not depended on previously established material.
While the continuity would be nice, it's only 'cool' if the players have played Storm Kings before to get they "Oh, that's B. from Storm Kings." reference. Beyond that, this is just an NPC contact the person with the SPY secret can rely upon.
The key here would not overthink this secret and keep Spy in the game, and all the while playing the NPC as you want to play her (Be creative).
Consider that the wolves motives are to keep people from escaping. Meaning that if the players move from L3 to L4 in view of the wolves they would not attack because they are not trying to escape.

Check the link off that page for Harper's too.
Hope that helps.
