Has anyone ever implemented Siege weapons in a campaign? is there any actual policy for it? Im thinking about making my cannons shoot "Fireballs" ... they will be fixed guns that can only be aimed slightly ...
Does this exist in any official content? Has anyone tried it in homebrew?
There's just what it says in the DMG, that I'm aware of - or at least that's how the DM I played with implemented canons. It took an action to load it, an action to aim it, and an action to fire it. They're listed after the section on chases. We had them operate under a Str check to load them, a Dex check to aim, and a D20+6 roll to fire, but I think that was POSSIBLY homebrew?
I think with the right party, they'd be fun! Depends on how difficult you think it might be to aim a canon. A character with really low Strength maybe should have been checking, but it strikes me as one of those situations that could be frustrating for a high STR character to suddenly drop the (canon) ball, unless you go for a high stress campaign. Could be an interesting way to shake things up with a group that normally aces regular combat.

I didn't think cannons exist in the forgorfor realms, but I could be wrong.
