Saw an ad for 20 Sided Tavern - a D&D based interactive live stage production, and it got me thinking on how to do an adventure set in a 20 sided room. Sort of planning that each PC will roll a d20 and end up someplace in this room. That was as far as I got, and now I need ideas...
Well, at first I wanted a 20 sided building. Then I considered a 5 sided building with 4 stories. Then I thought of a 3D 20 sided building. Not sure which would be better so I am open to all suggestions.

Like The pentagon?
I think the thing with a building shaped like a d20 is it could go two ways. It could be really cool. Or it could come across as a forced gimmick.
If I were to do it, I would just say the building is shaped like that on the outside, but inside it has the traditional floors, rooms stairways, etc. I wouldn't do something like, every face is a sperate room with its own gravity or anything like that, it would get too annoying to keep track of. Just a building that obeys regular physics and it happen to be shaped like a d20. Then, I'd probably go really meta with it, lean into the d20-ness. Like its the headquarters of some interplanar organization that keeps things moving. (Like the Time Variance Authority if you watched Loki.) The PCs are potential recruits and are being tested. I'd be very hesitant to have them be in separate places, mostly because of the logistics of what are the other 4 players doing while you work with number 5 -- the players waiting for their turn will get bored and annoyed.
every so often the building spins and a random effect occurs according to the top number 1, bad 20, good

You could have an icosahedron building that has a globe room on the inside with a d20 table of what the room contains. with a singular door into. I would then put a podium in the middle of that room that can randomise the room (or turn the die to a specific one). But some sort of mechanic to randomise it unless the podium is used (or in addition to, like every dawn).

D&D, Youth Work and the Priesthood sadly do not typically interact... I do what I can!

3-dimensionally 20 sided? Or just a building with 20 rooms in it?
