So my session only has 3 people in it (counting the dm) so the dm playes a pc. We recently finishes LMoP and we decided to switch dm's so I'm the new one. I decided I am going to do a homebrew set in Ravinca (yeah I know bad idea) I have been making it and even decided that the way my pc's got there was that they were plane shifted and all that jazz but I thought I should spice it up a bit add some complexity so I thought I would make my pc secretly a drow. So there new backstory is going to be that Helm Buckman (my pc) was born in the underdark his mother a priestes of lolth but there was a problem he was claustraphobic ( I know spelled wrong) so he decided to escape but being the good boy he is asked his mother first, she being understanding let him but first she gave him 2 things 1 a map out and 2 a gadget of her own inventing that could make him seem to be human he thanked her and quickly departed. So how does it sound , good, but my one problem is how can I tell this to my players I have Know idea help please

Do you need your other players to know this information? If you need them to know it for the game to work, then just have your NPC tell them like, around the campfire or something. If they don't need to know, then don't bother with it unless something happens to the trinket that masks your NPC as human.....then tell the story.

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
If I get what you're saying, you want your other players to find out that your guy is a drow, but you want to maximize the dramatic effect. Also, all three of you have been transported to Ravnica.
Well, if a gadget from your original world can turn an elf into a human, then it would be of extraordinary interest to the Izzet League and also to House Dimir. Someone steals it, your players learn the awkward truth, have a Special Moment, and then have to try to find it?
Maybe he has to wear the gadget for it to work and it has Lolth's symbol on it. Also maybe it only works for a while and has to recharge, like at night or by magic, so they could glimpse him in his natural state. If you tweaked this spell I found: Magic Charge a bit I bet it'd go pretty smoothly.
