HI everyone! Im looking for help with ideas for creating a playable flashback.
My 3 players will be put into a trance, and will be forced to relive the last day, of 3 people during a siege in a dungeon. Because of this i know where they will start and where they must end up. I plan for the group to visit this dungeon again later, and have the coices they made affect the dungeon.
So far i have come up with the following.
1. Traps ``they´´ made during the siege will still be there.
2. The skeletons of the people they met will be in the same location
Since the party needs to arrive at a set location, you could implement a segmented flashback.
For example, the party begins at the start of the dungeon where a fight ensues. After they finish the fight, you could say "your sight fades to black as the room around you disappears; Some amount of time passes (minutes, hours, DM discretion really) where you find yourself in another chamber further into the dungeon." This would allow you to ensure they arrive at the necessary location while also giving you some wiggle room for design changes in the dungeon if you so choose.
The dungeon itself could also be an anomalous location in time, where certain parts are only accessible after the party experiences a flashback (or a vision of the future, could give the party a series of these depending on how large the dungeon actually is). This could serve to explain how/why changes and alterations made while in trance have an impact on reality.
Thats a really good idea! One of the problems i have been dealing with, is making sure they end up in the right place, and this solves it just fine. Thank you
