Does anyone use them? Is there one you can recommend? I often have very specific battle layouts in mind, so I can't use generic themed battle maps.
I play on a hex grid, so something with hex tile capability might be nice, although it's okay to play on a hex grid on a map with rectangular corners. I do anyway if I'm doing something in the mundane civilized world. But a lot of natural environments look better with six "cardinal directions", I think.
I looked long and hard. For what I could find it really wasn't worth the money. I also use a hex and grid play mat. I draw it all out before the session and I made shapes with pictures on them to represent logs, rocks, holes, fires etc and printed them on paper.
