I read Thauraeln_the_bold's brilliant thread, The Wanderer's Guide to Borrelia and want to put my own homebrew world here.
Fareheim is a world partially inspired by Norse mythology. Civilization is minimal and scattered, with dark things sheltered under the boughs of trees. centuries ago a thriving civilization of giants vanished, leaving behind powerful runemarked items. Now superstitious humans live in isolated villages, elves and orcs war in the dark forest, goliaths raid ancient ruins, and dwarves craft weapons under the ground.
If you’re creating an entirely new setting, all of those should be near the bottom of your to-do list imo. Really flesh out Landscape, locations, politics, history, pivotal factors. As that will help you flesh out the new spells/etc.
but sure, a few of all of those- so long as you can homebrew them on DDB.
I do know those things. Humans have local politics that vary by village, elves have a druidic heirarchy and war with orcs in the forest. The orcs have a social structure similar to that of the vikings with no boats and more raiding, and goliaths live in several small island kingdoms. Usually they have a monarchical form of government, although someone who accomplishes something great may replace that line of rulers. It's a little hard to do the exact locations, though, since the world is mostly an infinite forest that actively tries to kill people.
Your setting sounds awesome so far, I'd love to hear more!

Fareheim has mad, ogrelike creatures called Remnants that are closely related to giants. Some also use Fomorian, hill giant, or Hill Giant Mouth of Grolantor statistics. I am going to work on a magical battleaxe next.
Are you sure you've published the homebrew? I'm getting an error 404 when I click on the links.
