Hi, I'm a new DM that is starting by running a mini campaign meant to be played when my group's main DM wants to play a little too (he deserves the break). Think of this like a mini one shot series. I know my plot/overarching cause and idea, and I have my BBEG, but I don't know how to implement it and can't find it. I'm also not exactly the most familiar with monsters... but I'm learning. The party will be level 11 when they reach the BBEG. My idea is that this whole thing began accidentally when a close friend of the party's started meddling with Fae stuff, and it went too far when it turned into a pact with a not so nice Archfey. The friend has been trying to send the party through ordeals to strengthen them and to hint at the problem, since she cannot tell them herself (though she tries anyways), and is losing more and more control. The BBEG is the friend, basically possessed by the Archfey.
I have no clue how to do the stats, because I can't find stats for an Archfey, and the friend has pretty damn low charisma. Do Archfey even possess people? Any ideas, suggestions, or critique would be very helpful. This won't be for a while, but I'm worried it'll come quickly and I'll be unprepared. Thanks in advance.

Can an Archfey posses someone? Sure, it's your campaign. You can do whatever you want. If you haven't already, I suggest you watch Matt Colville's video on betrayal, it should help you carry out your plot twist. Sadly, you'll probably have to homebrew stats for the Archfey, since pretty much every fey is lower than CR 10. I can help you with the homebrewing if you want, but you should make it yourself so that it turns out exactly the way you imagined it. I hope that helps!

Fey (at least in my understanding) are much more likely to use charm effects rather than outright possession (which is usually the domain of undead and fiends), but you could scale it as a series of escalating charm effects if you want to be more in line with 'standard'
For an Archfey, I'd recommend reskinning a high CR monster. If you want a really high one, reskinning Fraz-Urb'luu might be a good fit since he fits in the illusions/deception category (he is CR 23). The main thing would be to change his alignment to Chaotic Neutral and give him some spells like geas, dominate person, etc...
For a lower CR challenge a nagpa might be a good fit (CR 17) as it it already equipped with a lot of those type spells.

From what I've been told, Archfey are essentially Demi-Gods and, at least within the Feywild, can basically do anything that you want them to. This is partly why none of them are officially statted... A lot of Gods or God-like creatures in 5e are just left without stats just to discourage characters from fighting them. I don't remember the exact old adage, but it's something along the lines of, "If you stat it, your players will try to kill it".
On the plus side, this also means that they're a blank canvas for what they can or can't do. One story hook I would suggest is requiring the players to find something that can de-power the archfey (once they even know it's there)... whether you want the players to kill the archfey outright, or just banish them back to the Feywild. Maybe they need some kind of artifact... maybe they need to make an alliance with a member of the Seelie Court (the "Good" part of the Feywild, although fae are chaotic enough that good and bad are pretty relative). Alternatively, if any of your players are clerics or paladins... or otherwise have a connection to a God, it's incredibly satisfying as a player to have that connection brought to the forefront and have it rewarded.
Thauraeln_The_Bold Where would I even start when it comes to homebrewing? I don't know the first thing about making it balanced, and I really don't want to kill anyone, however armor will be lacking, and the main healers are essentially the paladin and the sorcerer (divine soul). They'll likely have a magic item each, but idk, this whole thing seems scary. I also have no clue how to do the stats considering it will be the friend's body? So, do I make her stats and essentially make her a powerful warlock (I don't think that'd work since her charisma is shit)? Or do I make the fey as its own entity, even though the physical stats wouldn't add up (Strength would be slightly above average perhaps, and dex not much to look at either) between friend and fey?

I've homebrewed quite a bit, and it was pretty difficult when I started out. But unless you want to devote a lot of your time to homebrewing, I suggest that you lay out any abilities you would want the Archfey to have, and I'll try to make them into a stat block.

There are six players, who will be at level 11 by them time they reach the BBEG.
