is it possible within AL rules for one party member to trade a non-magical item to another party member? In the example we ran into, one of our members upgraded their armor from plate mail to magical scale mail. Another party member only had chain mail, so the plate was an upgrade. Is it possible to make the trade since the item isn't magical?
Exchanging Wealth You can’t give another character gold or mundane equipment. However, you can pay for some or all the cost of services that help another character, such as the cost of a raise dead spell. To donate funds toward services for another character, you must be in the same party (at the same play table) unless otherwise specified by the adventure.

For goodness' sake, why?

I know I'm resurrecting a fairly old thread but where exactly are you seeing this 'Exchanging Wealth' information? I'm looking at the most current DDAL Player Guide 7.0 and the 7.1 FAQ but none of them say anything about trading non-magical items. I do see you can't trade away consumable items but I don't see why you can't give gold or non-magic items.

Imagine the following scenario:
Five friends go play an AL game together. All of them generate their gold and gear as normal and, at the end of the adventure, all of them get their cuts of treasure. Then, as the game ends, four of those five give all of that gear, gold, and treasure to one player. Then those four make new characters and generate new gear and gold and start the cycle over again. Then, after a few iterations, the single, over resourced player takes his official sheet with way too much wealth that he legally "acquired" to a convention game or another table and the weight of his wealth unbalances the adventure for everyone else.
That's at least partly why.

In concept I agree but I don't see any official ruling against doing such a thing under the season 7 rules. That's why I'm asking what the official ruling is and where it's cited
Well the "Exchanging Wealth" rules are most certainly at the bottom of page five of the season six guide. I can't seem to dig up a season seven guide, but I would expect that that is near where you might find it?

So officially the answer is no, see the most current AL Player's guide available at dmsguild.com

DDAL PG 7.0 makes no mention of "Exchanging Wealth" - https://www.dropbox.com/s/ae1b4hcp6cscpxx/DDAL_Players_Guide_v70.pdf?dl=0
Thank you for the extra set of eyes! Funny thing is it wasn't pulling up in a search. I appreciate you looking over it
