Hey guys! Puffin Forest has a great video about running AL Epics where he talks about item unlocks. A bit of rooting around later I find out this was a Season 8 thing, but the Season 8 Player's Guide isn't very descriptive. Are there any other resources on how this works?
I started to play AL in season 8. If you played an adventure and there was a magic item there you "unlocked it", so that you could "buy" it for trasure points that you earned by playing. This is scrapped and I like the current system better where everyone who want to keep the item you find can do so.
Something that isn't very clear to me in s9/s10 is whether magic items found in a lower tier that exceeded your maximum can be gained when your magic item count increases or are they lost forever. Similarly, I'm not sure if you can trade items that aren't counting against owned magic items.
Kind of a shame if you permanently lose out on items because they only appear in lower tier modules.
It is no longer any unlocks. The magic items you carry with you is all the magic items you have. The only way to get an item that you earlier had would be if your character find the same item in another adventure (as you are not allowed to play the same adventure with the same character twice), or if you manage to trade magic items with another player character that has the item in question.
I think that you as a player can replay an adventure with another character, get the item you wished you kept with the first character and pay downtime for both your characters to trade magic items.

Yep. As far as I know you permanently lose out. At the end of a module where your magic item limit does not increase you have to decide whether you want to keep what you have or take the new magic item. The only exceptions to this are (1) level gains when your tier changes and your magic item limit increases in which you can use the increase in the magic item limit to take the item from the module and (2) Legendary items which you earn in earlier tiers are stored until the character is tier 4 at which point they can decide whether they take them or discard them.

But you have the potential to get the item again. Some item might drop in several adventueres so you get another chance to hold on to it, Or find some other character that has that item and trade.
