I'm looking for an app or website I can use to create maps for my campaign. Preferably free, but depending on how well it operates, I'm also considering monthly subscriptions. I'm looking for the following :
Town/Village/City Maps
Dungeon Maps
Continental/World maps
Political Maps ** (optional)
Country maps
They don't all necessarily need to be in one site or app either, but I'd prefer if they were. Any suggestions?
... I've used both (own/subscribe to both). Each has different strengths. I think there are also websites out there that can automatically generate entire village maps but I can't recall the website at the moment. I only tried the free version in that case.
I like Dungeon Scrawl for most of my maps. It's free, but only to a certain size. It's still in what I'd call a late, but very operable beta state, but it has some quirks to it. The biggest problem I find is that I have a hard time remembering I have only so much room on my physical mat to draw out the dungeons/spaces I've designed
Pros:
Easy to Learn: The website comes with a pretty good tutorial on how to use it
Predominantly Free
Can Save and Create Multiple Dungeon Maps. Note: this feature may be included in the subscription price.
Cons:
Infinitely Large: You can really get lost in your map creation if you're not careful
Others have mentioned Inkarnate. That's the one I use. I am not at all a digital artist, but the maps I'm able to create using it always come out looking incredible. This is a map I created of Calimport for an adventure series I wrote. It was a lot of work to lay down each of those houses (mostly because there are so many). That said, all I had to do was click on the spot where I wanted one and it would drop a randomly selected house. I could also tell it which specific house I wanted, if I needed. It's super slick.

Some possibilities to look at ...
Inkarnate
Dungeon Alchemist

Thanks, I'll check it out

Azgaar
Dungeon Fog
Perilous Shores by Watabu
Worldspinner
wonderdraft & dungeondraft are also fairly easy and allow a somewhat easy way to import extra assets
From Inkarnate to Dungeon Scrawl, there's something for everyone's preferences and needs
there's a lot to be said for regular ol' gimp if you want to go through the work of finding/building your own brushes.
