Anyone know how I can add my own characters to my campaign so I can use them as NPCs? I ask only because the NPC in mind is sort of a community NPC that the players control if someone cant make it to a session.
I created NPC characters using the DDB character builder and cut and pasted the campaign link and joined with the character(s) I wanted to signify as an NPC in my campaign putting in (NPC) after their name. Only problem is players just see the basic character card... name, class level, etc. and not as yet able to view each other's full character sheet but I hear that is coming. On the plus side to separate the NPC characters I created I made them inactive so they don't take up campaign slots and they slide down below active player characters so have a more separate look to show they are no PC's.

Anyway that is how I made it work for me.
Can the other people in the campaign see the added "inactive" characters or are they not visible except to the DM.
The other players can see the basic card with name and classes/level, portait, etc just as they can other player PC character basic card info (active or inactive still visible)... so far only the dm can click on them to open full character sheet.
Cool thanks. I wish they couldn't see them I'd like to add some character building NPCs from their written histories. I still can I'll just have to add them to the campaign the moment they meet them.
Maybe DDB will see how people like us use the campaign area... and add a npc section to it where we can mask hide or show our npc's as we like but for now just have to make due with what we can do I guess...

That sounds like an awesome idea. Ya my players are new and it would be so much easier if I could just give them the characters and they will be running a few NPCs that I have built and want them to have access to.
I feel its a common enough concept to have players control an npc for various reasons. We tend to have an npc lingering in the background throughout the quest in case a player can't make it to a session. Balances the odds without having to rework encounters.

Oh alright, cool workaround. Thanks for the tip! Up the Irons! :)
