Let's say wizard of school of illusion casts Major Image and uses his feat Illusory Reality to make part of this illusion semireal. Because this part of illusion is real object now, this object cannot be dispelled (but the rest of illusion could be), and even if wizard drops his concetration on the Major Image, this object lasts until the end of 1 minute.
But could this wizard drop existence of this semireal object as well? Or does it always lasts for exactly one minute - no longer, no shorter?
I would say no - it exists for 1 exactly minute and wizard cannot drop object's semireality earlier, like e.g. concentration spell. What do you think?
(1) "Real" doesn't mean it isn't "Magical". It can absolutely be dispelled as part of the source spell.
(2) When the Illusion spell ends, whether by dropping concentration or the spell expiring naturally, the "real object" would also disappear. (Just like with summoning spells.)
(3) By RAW, the wizard can't voluntarily end the "Illusory Reality" component separate from the source spell itself.

These points were addressed by Crawford himself. Illusory reality makes part of the illusion "real", mundane object. Even if the rest of the illusion is dispelled or just ends early, this one semireal object exists for one minute no matter what. It isn't summoning/conjuration, after all.

This is what my question is about. I wanted to make sure wizard using illusory reality himself cannot cease this object out of existence earlier as well. Happy that you agree with me on this one.

That's not quite what he's saying. It's not that the object is 'real' or 'mundane', it's that it's not a spell effect and is thus not affected by Dispel Magic.
The obvious abuse is that you can drop concentration and the object still exists, which is handy for creating barriers.

Hrmm... ok. Glad he clarified.
I'm going to have to consider how that can be abused.
