So I made a small battle map so that I could keep track of all the monsters and characters in combat however I can't afford to buy figurines and so I started cutting out paper circles and writing the name and number of the monster this worked fine however when I started to plan larger battles cutting out all the necessary circles grow very tiring so I was wondering if anyone has found a different way that's cheap and fast

I love drow, rogues and Chinese weapons. I mean come on, rope darts are awesome.
My current character is a drow shadow monk, with a "unique" honor code (give him some time, he's working through some stuff). He also sucks on the socialization side of interacting with all other living creatures. which is very fun to RP.
Our group uses paper figures so there's still cutting involved but say we need a Goblin, we'll print two pictures of the Goblin and glue them to a small square of foam board. If we need more than one we'll put numbers on either side of the figure. Our combat board is a sheet a grid paper with a sheet of laminate over top so we can use dry erase markers to draw out the terrain/dungeon and write whatever we need to on it, usually off to the side we'll have an initiate tracker.
Tokens are a quick, easy, and inexpensive way to make a good representation of monsters and PCs. I just use Word to size and print out the art, and a 1-inch paper punch gets the cut perfect every time. If you want to upscale your token, you can use 1-inch domed epoxy stickers, that are usually used to make bottlecap jewelry. It's simple and effective, and even looks good on the map. (works best if everyone is using tokens, if someone uses 3D minis, they look a bit 'flat' in comparison ;)

I’ve often put dice on the board for monsters. Each type of dice could represent a different type of monster.
Only spilt the party if you see something shiny.
Ariendela Sneakerson, Half-elf Rogue (8); Harmony Wolfsbane, Tiefling Bard (10); Agnomally, Gnomish Sorcerer (3); Breeze, Tabaxi Monk (8); Grace, Dragonborn Barbarian (7); DM, Homebrew- The Sequestered Lands/Underwater Explorers; Candlekeep
Use game pieces from board games.
Coins also work.

I like to use the cut-outs by https://www.printableheroes.com/ if possible. Like them a lot!
