I am currently creating a sewer map for a possible route my players might take, but am having a complete mental block.
The idea is that a cult has cast a summoning spell for Jubliex, and as a result a selection of Oozes have appeared in the sewers. So I need to create a claustrophobic environment which makes oozes and eventually 1 (or even 2) Gelatenous cubes harder/impossible to bypass. In addition the problem in the sewers has come to light because a smuggling group has found they are losing members they send down suddenly.
I am really having a mental block, I think it is the fact I have been mapping like crazy recently my 3 attempts so far just are not grabbing me.
So has anyone got any suggestions for a good Sewer map I use for inspiration, either from a published adventure, or online? I imagine I will tweak it but having something to use as a base would be good :)
Sewer Hideout This is from Dragon Heist. This has a few long sewer channels along with several adjoining areas. You can always collapse, narrow or flood areas for claustrophobic effect.
“It cannot be seen, cannot be felt, Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt, It lies behind stars and under hills, And empty holes it fills, It comes first and follows after, Ends life, kills laughter.” J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit, or There and Back Again
Thankyou for this helped things click, I was too concerned with running the “sewage” in a logical way round the whole map but of course there will be rooms, ante chambers, and other spaces away from the flow of liquid. That has helped me make an interesting map :).
