Hey just to ask wall of force provides total cover even though it's invisable right? As the spell doesn't state it provides total cover However it says nothing can physically pass through it
For all intents and purposes, yes. If a creature is behind a wall of force and someone tries to attack them, don't bother having them roll, it doesn't work.
Yeah it's an impenetrable wall and the only thing that can disrupt it is a Ray of Disintegration. Basic concept; if someone tries to throw something at you and you are fully behind a wall, it will not hit you.
Somethings you plan way in advance-- big plot movements or consequences for players actions. But I wouldn't get everything ready to be played until the week of the game, to be honest. If you do too much prep or try to prepare for relatively small things too far in advance, then the nearest events are going to lose some of that prep by the time they arrive. You can only keep so many things in your head.
But you should have a clear outline of the campaign in your head from the start. There are things you are going to need to not trample on and there are answers you will need to know long before the players discover them. On the other hand, you can improvise and change details you "get wrong."
Let me know if you ever want to trial a session to work out the bugs for your son and his friends. Would be more than happy to try any campaign out for you.
