has anyone dedicated a plot/subplot to an wotc npc?
I'm going yo run a one shot where Toblen Stonehill is an adventure who leads the party this will be before he met his wife and moved to phandalin i'm still working out his class ect
He won't be a dmpc as he will be off doing his own thing during combat
I made entire campaign center around the little goblin child Huggybug that players can meet in Dungeon of the Mad Mage.
any reason?
My idea is because we spend so much time at the stonehill inn and we always talk to toblen and rusty(a grave digger npc that i based off a character from cluedo master dective/dvd game)
My players once bought a scouts body back as proof she was dead so as dm i decided rusty was to charge a buriel fee of 50gold(the exact reward money)

Yeah, one of my players was playing a goblin and decided to basically adopt Huggybug after the short little NPC encounter, then moved her into the mansion the players get in that adventure and tried to raise her better than the gutter they found her in. There was some fun ways to weave that into various parts of the dungeon and the adventure ended for the players with Huggybug sort of being co-parented by a powerful mind-flayer from deep in the dungeon. Anyway, it led nicely into when we moved on to Rime of the Frostmaiden and Huggybug was drawn into the adventure's sub-plot with the crashed Nautaloid spelljammer and the gnome ceremorphs.

i find the more your players invest a campaign the more they become invested in npc for my game tthe stonehill inn is basicly home (funny story i bought an apron to wear when playin the inn keeper lol) to the extent i'm carving all our games into an expanded universe (i'm running 1 big campaign which will last a year to two years with the starter sets which will be prequels that give more meaning to certain events and npcs)
Today was new dice day(once a monthh i get 4 magazines which has rules tips and the encounters i'm basing my main campaign on with dice sets or standees or (ugh i hate these) giant d20s As well as maps and pre gennerated sheets(it's a milestone system today lvl 2 sheets arrived)
