I need campaign ideas for a campaign I’m running, my players have done nearly everything I’ve planned for! FYI the campaign is called The Grimbok Caves. My players are about to face my villain, The Necromancer King’s Army. I have a Tarrasque encounter planned for when they hit level twenty. All ideas welcome, stories of your campaigns encouraged. (I’d like to hear the stories so i have a context in which the ideas can be used.) Thanks!
Do your players have detailed character history? Often you can find things in character histories that allow you to tailor content to individual characters.
Have you spoken to your players and asked what kind of content they would like to see in the game? Asking for DM's only to read this and comment is shortsighted Some of my best material comes from collaborating with my players
I need more than a campaign name, a necromancer king, and a tarrasque to work with.
I like to play around with preconceptions. My current campaign has a market place in The Abyss being the single best place to shop. No Taxes, good prices, high level gear.
I would suggest you pick one race traditionally good and make every single member the players meet be horribly vile. And then go and pick one race tradionally evil and make every single member the players meet be sophisticated and pleasant. Well dressed, educated, etc. etc.
Do Not Warn The Players.
Let them figure it out for themselves. Amazing how long it takes them to say "You know, goblins are pretty nice guys, but the halflings here abouts are total scum."
the premise is to have an open world, sorta like a LOTR/ LOZ mix. So far, they have done a few quests for the king of one of the main cities, made a bit of money.
There are actually multiple premises in game both of my Groups operate out of the City of Llindar, the gateway to a paradise known as haven a tropical island continent in its own demi plane complete with a sun and moons set adrift on the astral sea. Currently Both groups are in the employ of a mercenary company one group is exploring an ancient underground complex that predates the creation of the demiplane. The other group is investigating a series of ritualistic serial murders. the path of both groups will eventually merge for a short time before they will move onto differrent assignments either investigating the ancient city at the heart of the island, investigating the other two inactive portal towers, Joining the exploratory corps and going through the mage powered gate system to explore other worlds or they may journey around island
If they decide to join the exploratory corps i have a new campaign in mind that which i am already working on the map for
If they decide to go to the ancient city I have been working on that map for almost a year and a half along with a story for it.
If they go to inactive portal towers i am screwed because i don't have maps made for those or even Lore for those written yet
If they decide to journey around the island i can make a new map every week for them along with NPC's, mini adventures in the area.
All of this is just stuff that at one point i thought was a good idea and just started drawing and writing.
Read or watch some scifi/ fantasy, murder mystery, crime procedurals etc... look at some random generators as prompts for ideas and talk with your players. Look at older modules for ideas... Drivethrurpg is your friend
Probably the wrong place for this, but I am looking for a DM who wants an NPC/PC to help make a campaign more fun. (Heavy on role-playing, but help the party out with stuff) Play by post only, please. Let me know if you're interested.
This is a simple matter, Jerhi. It seems you need to expand your mega dungeon, The Grimbok Caves, by several levels if your players have completed everything already.
howsabout, they get elected to represent the material plane at the U.P (united planes) confrence. suddenly it becomes a RP intrigue campaign, set on MECHANUS. extraplanar NPCs are great (especally archfey) and i love the idea of Strahd just tellecomutiong through a magic mirror because he cant leave barovia

How long has the campaign been going?
What is the premise of your campaign?
What level is your group?

This helps a lot thanks
Xeresia, here are the answers to your questions
the campaign has been going of for a few months
the premise is to have an open world, sorta like a LOTR/ LOZ mix. So far, they have done a few quests for the king of one of the main cities, made a bit of money.
the group is around level 10
a few of them, such as our wizards (we have 4)
no, but your players feedback would be wonderful.
DM’s, feel free to consult your party’s for ideas

I would do that if they HADN’T DESTROYED THE ENTIRE MOUNTAIN RANGE they ended up making a ravine… 30 miles deep….
There was also a near encounter with a Few dragons
